Re: Does streaming really help?
I'm not against making T-Shirts, I'm against having to depend on them as income, because the T-Shirt wearer can't be arsed to pay for my actual output. This "can't be arsed to pay" phenomenon seems to have started with software piracy, but then it expanded into similar devaluation of musi...

Re: Does streaming really help?
Obviously. But having spent ghastly amounts of my income on records and music I can vouch for I didn't think for one minute whether I was supporting the artist or not. I just wanted the whole product and the full experience of owning it. I guess we are all different. I spent a mind-boggling amount ...

Re: Does streaming really help?
An episode worth mentioning: I got a "Your music needs to be on Apple Music" email from CD Baby. I visited the blog post it linked to and answered it with my usual maths summary posted in this thread too: streaming membership size / music catalog size = less than 1 listener per day average...

Re: iPad
Got stuck on iTunes again... those guys made me change my password so many times, and made me add so many symbols, the frigg can remember what it is anymore. Didn't even want to go through the hassle of retrieving it, I just bought the same track on Amazon instead (because Bandcamp didn't have it.) ...

Re: iPad
That's it, I have a disability. It's called asumorectusPCIpectoa. The inability to buy the correct PCI card in spite of having duly looked at the mobo and read its specs. The last 2 times I thought it's just bad luck or a shipping mix-up, but with 3 cases out of 3 now, it's definitely permanent and ...

Re: M4L Stability
Actually, Max isn't Java-based nor does it rely on Java per se, though you can use Java components inside a Max Device. You are right, I see this now. Maybe I should have said, "there ought to be a handier way to extend a DAW with user code." All I wanted was a simple way (my own) to conv...

Re: Ableton Live 10
For the love of god, please let us edit audio/midi in the arrangement timeline instead of the Clip window. As long as this remains an option, I agree. In some instances, though, it helps to have 2 different representations of the same waveform, one extremely zoomed in and the other normal. Eg. when...

Re: Ableton Live 10
In Arrangement view, the audio waveform on a track would have more space if the colored rectangle on top of it could be minimized or removed altogether. Or perhaps the rectangle and the waveform could be integrated.

Re: Does streaming really help?
Apple and Spotify have nothing to lose though, because people are not going to stop making music. They are just going to do it for free in the future (while hanging on to the idea that it's advertisment ) Or music might become just a bragging hobby for dope dealers and bored plutocrats who can thro...

Re: Does streaming really help?
So... no one can tell for sure? Quite different from what the (paid) pundits are preaching... I mean, the math seems pretty simple. If Spotify, eg. has 20 million paying subscribers and each of those subscribers discovers 26 new works in a month, as Spotify boasted the other day... with 26 million w...
