Re: Best placement of acoustic treatment???
Sit in your optimum listening position and place foam at all mirror points between your head and the speakers. The idea is to have the foam at all first reflection points. Both side walls should take priority, then the wall behind your head and the ceiling. If you have enough, doing the wall behind ...

Re: Using sheet music and ableton
But do you think Live's built in instruments warrant such complexity, latency and instability? If you have to buy the other sequencer then you can just run its own internal sounds and use vst plugs from the score enabled sequencer. I think cubase has score writing capabilities and it has similar bu...

Re: Using sheet music and ableton
If you use any software to notate the music, there is no reason why you cannot have that application send the midi data into Live using internal midi ports and play Live's own instruments or third party VST/AU's. These are built into OSX, but if you are a Windows user, installing Midiyoke will provi...

Re: McMillen QuNeo looks to be everything I want in a controller
That being said, I'm a newb with Max but I've gotten far since I got it, so I've pretty much got up to Push functionality just on my own from scratch, and should be past it by next month. It's also getting more advanced and twice as functional compared to an LPC or APC script, but being a newb I kn...

Re: Could anyone give guidance on how to make this type of growl
Very tightly looped audio ([groove~] object in M4L would work well). The pitch is determined by the loop length, so for instance a loop length of 15.288ms would be C1 (frequency 65.41Hz). To get the pitch bend effect, you would decrease the loop size to sweep up, increase to sweep down. The sweeping...

Re: buying records mail order
I've used eBay quite a bit and have never had any issues with Vinyl I have bought. I think the particular seller you were dealing with is just an arse and probably shouldn't be used as a benchmark. If it was well packed, I don't see how the warping could have happened during transit either, so maybe...

Re: McMillen QuNeo looks to be everything I want in a controller
Does anyone know how the Quneo behaves if you change USB ports? Is it still recognised as the same unit, or is it reinstalled as a new device every time, like the Launchpad (which gets a number prefix, e.g. "5-Launchpad" every time you plug it into a new port)? Windows or Mac? I can confi...

Re: Changing sample rate in the middle of a project ?
You could re-sample your existing 44.1/16 audio files to be 44.1/24 too. But essentially, yes that would be my approach.

Re: Changing sample rate in the middle of a project ?
I wouldn't change from 44.1 to 48 as there really is not that much of a difference. And because the ratio between the two sample rates is not a factor of 2, 4 etc.., you would need to ensure you are using a really good sample rate converter - some (even ones you think might be great applications) ar...

Re: Your most embarrassing performance moments 2
I did a remix of "Eye of the Tiger" as part of a gig where I got some of my mates to sing along to some cheesy pop crap. For the first verse he sang completely out of key - I couldn't go on so I stopped and had a word with him. It took half of the replayed first verse with me gesturing for...

Re: Round robin simulator via velocity for triggering samples?
I'm doing some drum sequencing using a Quneo and despite my best efforts to get a good velocity curve and using drums with many levels, I'm still getting awful repeats. I was thinking it would be cool to have a device that receives the note and velocity, but ensures that the same velocity doesn't g...

...or even better, create the ability to use a modifier key so you can click on the actual note and increase/decrease velocity.

Re: A month set for 9-5 writing/creating- what would you do?
It's a good idea - if you are part of a duo - to get anything you can do by yourself done in your time and then bring it to the table. Nothing has to be set in stone, but if you learn some synths really well, design a load of sounds you like, jot down some basic ideas you would like to try etc, this...
