Re: Partition on HDD only for Producing with Live: XP, Vista, 7?
thx for ur insights so far my prob with vista was, that it was full of gimmicks like sidebar, desktop search, which i think would make the OS more unstable than a slim installed xp sp3 without so much for music producing unnecessary background programs/services. XP seems to be pretty solid, and you ...

Partition on HDD only for Producing with Live: XP, Vista, 7?
My normal installation is too full of other many power ressources using software. So i decided to set up a dual boot system with a installed OS only for Live and music producing. Read this guide http://www.tascam.com/products/computer_recording/W2k_XP_Optimize.pdf Also heard many use TinyXP to get m...

Re: Novation Launchpad
the Launch Pad is a great box. aggreed but this avalanche of lp threads is really annoying. Im not reading for long here, but the ableton board structure is really weird and not very useful, covering most of the topics in one "general" section. At least the could make a "controller, ...

Re: I couldn't resist this launchpad clip
so this guy is obviously lp addicted :D only moonwalk is failing at the end. Seems we need a self-helf group for addicted anonymous lp users here soon, if the whole forum is not yet mutated to one past weeks. Also there will probably be much more music in future with all that max4live and lp hype th...

Re: laptop choice // the eternal question
afaik thinkpad r currently only offering 15,4 1680x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution without mirroring display, which i use and think its perfect for Live. Unfortunatley no LED, but u can integrate 2nd HDD/battery, trackpoint. Isnt Live only 32bit? So max 3GB RAM possible? Look for T61, T500, W500 (only ...

Re: best synth for learning synthesis
I totally agree, but this particular user wanted to learn. And the core of learning is reinventing wheels... ;-) He wants to know like many others what synth good for CREATING DIFF. SOUNDS on ur own with available synths. Ur "advice" is to build ur own guitar if u want to learn playing gu...

Re: best synth for learning synthesis
Lets agree to disagree, tweaking knobs is not understanding synthesis. Any of those preset carriers will not help in understanding why it sounds the way it sounds. The simple synths are pre wired, that is their disadvantage not their advantage. Learning is not about simplicity, its about understand...

Re: best synth for learning synthesis
i wouldnt recommend reaktor and max, i think op want to learn how to synthesize sounds of pretty diff. timbre. reaktor and max is overkill for this. Standard synth methods and effects are way enough for this. good thing on massive to start is its presets browser and the macro knobs and an interface ...

Prehearing samples in Live browser with vst-analyzer?
Is it possible to route the prehearing audio to a Live mixer vst spectrum analyzer/lives built in spectrum ana audio effect? Think its pretty useful when searching sounds for remixes. Currently i use a extern Analyzer that gets the audio out of my notebook and analyzes this. Dont think its possible ...

Re: Novation Remote SL MkII and Native Live Instruments/Effects
The Novation controller can do manual midi assigning just like any other controller using the regular templates. The problem with midi assigning parameters manually on Live's devices like operator is that they can't be saved with the preset. Also the assignments are global in the project. So if you...

Re: Novation Remote SL MkII and Native Live Instruments/Effects
I think a couple of you (not Android) are confused about what each type of automap does. You do not use automap universal (38 on MKI, or automap button lit on MKII) for any of Live's devices. They don't automap that way. They only work with the ableton automap template (40 on MKI). This one works d...
