Best MIDI Controller for Controlling VST's?
I'm looking for a MIDI controller that would make it easy to control/change VST parameters without a mouse. With lots of knobs and sliders, and the ability to change the cc's of those knobs to different presets (So that I could map more knobs than are physically available). In other words a controll...

Re: WHat new gear would you buy if you had an extra $1000
Personally, I'd buy this: http://www.moogmusic.com/littlephatty/?section=product&product_id=21398 Or the moog little phatty if you are willing to save up a bit more... But that's only because I like the blue buttons :) Alternatively I'd look at buying a Nord Lead 2, or a Juno 106. Nothing amazin...

Re: Kicks - how do you get yours?
Cheers for that, the kick generator is a dll though, I think they are just for pcs. So if you are sticking with samples, which is a lot easier, how do you tune it? I have been using melodyne, but if its a combination of decaying pitches, it could be anything. I suppose I could isolate the tail and ...

Re: Kicks - how do you get yours?
Rick snoman said not to put on a compressor only outside the context of a mix, when you're making a track it's fine to use a compressor on your kick. I sometimes like to squeeze a kick just a tiny bit so the mids punch through. It's a matter of setting the right threshold, I find if you're compressi...

ZebraCM problems in ableton, and general MIDI headaches
I keep getting parameter jumps when I use zebraCM, can they somehow be avoided? I initially used Zebra's MIDI learn function but that causes parameter jumps every time I switch presets and move the knobs a little bit. So I tried controlling Zebra through Live's parameters (the option where you can p...

Re: How to match Hats with snares
Here's the tutorial I was talking about, if you don't have sampler you can still do it with a drum rack and a pitch device placed before it.

Re: Question about dithering and 24 bit renders in Live
Thanks for help. I did some searching on this and found out that Live converts everything to 32 bit anyways. So the bit depth always gets reduced unless you render as 32 bit.fishmonkey wrote:dithering is only needed when reducing the bit depth...

Question about dithering and 24 bit renders in Live
I'm slicing individual hits out of a 24 bit loop to save for later use and I want to export them as 24 bit. I was wondering if I should I apply dithering if I'm rendering a 24 bit sample as 24 bit? This is confusing me as I don't really understand how dithering works. Would I be better off exporting...

Re: Any recent trance tracks that drive the dancefloor crazy?
Thanks for all the advice. I guess it's worth going to toronto for the next trance event (I'm in a smaller city right now and all they play is top 40), not a big fan of the excessively loud PA systems though which is why I was hoping someone else here has been to one. @Khazul, I actually dislike che...

Any recent trance tracks that drive the dancefloor crazy?
Can anyone or any dj's here suggest some recent trance tracks that have worked really well on the dancefloor? My arrangement skills need a lot of work so I was hoping to use this as a reference for my own tracks. I hope I don't come across as being un-original, I just want to learn a few things abou...

Re: Am I normal?
I very frequently encounter this problem to. Maybe we're all abnormal :). I used to use this program called LMMS and I'd always finish tracks in it, I haven't actually completed any tracks in ableton for almost a year :(. I don't know if it's because the interface is incompatible with the way I thin...
