Re: iPad

Bumping my iMac from 8 GB of RAM to 32 GB, third party chips for a little over $150. :) If you had Apple configure it that way it would cost $400. :? :x

Alexa, play some Norwegian death metal

My parents got an Echo Dot for Christmas and I have to admit there’s something satisfying about speaking a music request into the air and it just does it. I’ve rarely “Hey Siri”d anything and even rarer that it actually works. Not to mention with all the Apple products I have I don’t know which Siri...

Re: Punchy kicks?

https://www.sonicacademy.com/products/kick-2 BOOM Mate, I was gonna post that and forgot. I got Kick 2 a couple of weeks ago and freaking love it. It's flipping amazing. You got it? Yup. I also have used Kick 1 and Big Kick. Kind of funny how even something seemingly simple can still follow “You th...

Re: Mono vs Stereo - Rookie Questions 10 Years In

Cheers for your responses guys, I'll be honest, got a bit lost in the technicalities of many parts of what's been written but I think I've got my mind in a better place than before I wrote this post. I’ve been working on music for several decades and it seems like every year I find out about at lea...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

Used Native Instrument’s Access app for the first time that replaced Service Center. Pretty snappy and streamlined and I like the fact that it doesn’t bug me to authorize software I don’t have the serial for (software I sold the license for, not cracks) or download updates to obsolete software that ...

Re: Mono vs Stereo - Rookie Questions 10 Years In

You never really have control over how people will listen to the music (or where they are standing in relation to the speakers), so the best you can do is aim for the widest probable audience. This is the kind of thing I deal with every single day in mastering, making it sound as good as possible f...

Re: House loop library packs

For the next 24 hours ADSR has 15 Black Octopus sound packs for $15, that's total, not $15 each. That's about $540 worth of libraries for $15. No brainer.

Re: Here are your Xmas Presets

Oh great, somebody else devaluing music production with freebies. :P Look forward to checking these out. Are there any other DAWs out there that allow for this kind of elaborate device sharing? I also use Logic but have never really seen any “Download this channel strip I made” posts, but I’m not re...

Re: iPad

The AirPods are pretty sweet. I’m actually more concerned about losing the charging case than the Airpods. It’s been compared to a dental floss box but it’s actually smaller than that. Maybe travel sized (as if a normal dental floss box is too unwieldy for travel). :P One cool feature if you have an...

Re: Mono vs Stereo - Rookie Questions 10 Years In

In those days you actually had a person doing the mixing. So the musician/band/act could focus on his/her instrument and writing great tunes. This is still possible today. I released my fair share of 4-track cassette demos back in the day without getting kickback on the overall quality. The problem...

Re: Mono vs Stereo - Rookie Questions 10 Years In

How naive I was when I started this hobby, to think that having a tune in your head was all you needed to have. Welcome to today’s music production standards for even the hobbyist. I really miss the days of just coming up with a catchy tune and people just liked it without micro analyzing the mix.
