Re: Windows 10 Recent Update Sep 2016
This is why I turned off updates while they still had a group policy editor on Windows 10 Professional, You can't do that even in Professional any more? Well I can't say for certain because I obviously have not run the update, but the word is that in an update a couple months ago they removed acces...

Re: Database crash + re-scan -- I am alone in this ??
Dude I have a band-aid for this that's going to chance your life. Ready? Back up your database file. Just copy it onto another drive or another folder and then delete the corrupted file and paste the backup into its place. Voila - you get back 98% of your library instantly. This happened to me once ...

Re: UVI integration
Thanx guys ... I assumed when I installed the standalone that it would have installed all component parts, and it did ... but for some reason it installed the vst dll into a dormant cubase essential vst folder instead, so live didnt pick it up, however I found it and all is working now .. cheers fo...

Re: UVI integration
Are you running uvi standalone instead of as a vst inside Live? I'm pretty sure this is his problem @ OP you need to direct Live to look for the folder in which you have installed the plugin version of UVI Workstation (via Preferences > File and Folder). Then open UVI Workstation from Live's "...

Re: Sidechaining to layered kicks
Others have already said more or less the same thing, but just to restate/try to simplify If you open up the rack i/o you can ctrl+click the chains corresponding to the pads that comprise your layered kick to highlight non-contiguous pads. Or just shift+click if they're right next to each other. The...

Re: What's your favorite feature of Live?
The ease of routing and modulation afforded by the use of racks and macros. Especially Drum Racks. Honestly even Studio One 3, which is trying to do the same thing now (minus drum racks), pales in comparison IMO. I've also always been a huge fan of the device panel. The fact that you can see and con...

Re: Share your beginners mistakes.
It took me a relatively long time to fully understand the way arrange and session views communicate with each other, how to use one track's arrange view while looping a clip from session, etc. Or more so, trying to figure out why something was still playing from session view even though I was in arr...

Re: The "Sample is Offline" DAW
I also use collect all, but even when Ableton can't find a file immediately, it's never taken more than a few seconds to find it with the file manager. That's the beauty of Ableton Index.

Re: Clip launch not synced to arrangement
So what do you think about how it works in bitwig? Yeah, that's probably a better way, but tbh its just so rare for me to run into this problem that I can't think of any time it has actually mattered. What I do find to be kind of a pain is the fact that the scrub tool in session view doesn't consid...

Re: Clip launch not synced to arrangement
You're right - the first part of my reply was off the mark. I'm pretty sure the second part is accurate though. It's normal behavior. If you have a clip that is active for playback, with the green play icon highlighted, then it starts whenever playback starts. It has already been "launched"...

Re: Clip launch not synced to arrangement
I think your problem might be that you're playing the arrangement from that scrub(?) tool. That thing has no launch quantization in Live's arrange view. So it starts playing exactly where you click, and the metronome is playing relative to the arrangement, while the clip seems to be launching at the...
