Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
(Also, is it possible to make a device that only records a sample, then you hit One button to have the sample sent to either a drum rack or instance of Simpler in a new track? I started building 2 devices to try and understand what is possible to do with Max For Live. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/91738...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
To be honest I have a feeling that it's less cynical than that and more intrinsic to Ableton's audio and midi architecture. How do you route audio to a midi track and vice versa. Apparently you can use a side-chain trick but it seems a bit of a hack. I think it would require a lot of work and rewrit...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
I don't think it can be underestimated how powerful and creative a process sampling straight to pads or slicing using a controller can be. I certainly don't dismiss it lightly.. but this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwc3oOQ0iaE I find really inspiring. I'm starting to understand Push and some of...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
I think anyone would have a tough task trying to create a controller to control ALL aspects of Live, purely because it is such a deep & complex program with too many parameters. (you wouldn't want it any other way) Ableton have chosen to focus more on the production/performance aspects and not o...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
that can't be 110% deal breaker for a controller like push, slice to drum rack takes all of 5-10 seconds depending on how long the sample is your slicing and BAM its there with my slice preset and macros setup ready to go..... Does Live's automatic analysis of the audio always produce perfect trans...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
Hopefully Ableton will be updating the docs for the LOM and we'll be better able to determine what can and can't be done with creating our own Sample Chopping device. I have pretty limited knowledge when it comes to things like this, I've only just started learning M4L. The way I see it there are a ...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
I think people saying not being able to slice from the Push controller or copy drum rack pads isn't a issue for those who have all there drum rack presets and know there way around Live I dunno man, I think if Push had some ability to do this from the controller I would be 110% sold and immediately...

Agreed, but what you can't see is his 3rd hand mousing around like mad, just off camera /jkJimConley wrote: ps - great video Quantize. Probably the most comprehensive start from scratch demo I've seen out there.
Cheers for the vid Quantize, nice to see more of these showing up on YouTube now.

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
the "feel" of the pads are always going to be subjective. Sure but I was speaking more about empirical analysis of the hardware in front of me. The shop was quite quiet that day and the staff member (purveyor of Maschine) had a lot of time for me and altered the sensitivity settings, like...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
delicioso: really? This all sounds pretty contradictory to my own personal experience. Also just to clarify I compared the MPC Ren & Maschine mkii. I actually preferred the slightly more solid sturdy feeling Ren pads. You're correct in your assumption that the shop floor was my side by side comp...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
The pads on the Ren are also no different to other Akai pads. They may all have slightly different "feel" to them but their fundamental design flaw is the same which is why they still have a poor response in comparison to what's available. Sorry I was under the impression that they did a ...

Re: Are you getting PUSH?
In terms of responsiveness and sensitivity, it goes like this from my experience: Maschine > padKONTROL > Triggerfinger > MPC/MPD I can completely agree about the 'vanilla' MPD pads, they are shocking beyond belief. I actually thought mine were faulty at 1st before I read about the corx Modificatio...
