Re: APC40 MK2
Problem is that the send banks which can be used to map to audio/midi effect racks are gone. Great performance tool. Fail on Akai's part. I'll buy a used MK1.

Question on Trap House music (don't be hatin')
So, my question revolves around BPM and what you trap producers like to make your tracks in. A double-time feel or regular feel? Basically, like 70 bpm with snares/claps on the 2 and 4, or a 140 bpm with claps/snare on the 3 of each bar? Now, I'm aware you can make the same song with both bpms, it's...

Re: any degradation to audio in warp mode if the tempos corresp?
If the original clip is at 120, and assuming it's an electro beat which was built on a grid... go to your settings and disable auto warp. Then when you bring in the loop at 120 and your global BPM is set at 120 there should be no warping that affects the sound. Viola.

Re: Fading multiple clips?
Hmmm.... I don't have a lot of experience workign with fade edits as I usually just am fine with the standard crossfades. But.. maybe next time create a clip and then make your crossfade. THEN, duplicate and edit the pattern and the fade should stay, yeah? I know that doesn't help now, but food for ...

Re: Mr. Wong's Maschine usage Qs (not a comparison thread)
Dude go to the maschine forum, that's what it's there for. As a maschine user, I don't know the answers to your questions. I know how to set the velocity WHEN YOU PLAY IT, but not to set multiple notes' velocity after the fact. As far as the hot swap, I don't know if that's possible. I've tried mess...

Re: Making album artwork - your experiences?
There's an option under preferences (command + comma). It's called create album art. Click on it and viola! It automatically decides whether you need it in RGB format for digi or if your going CMYK for print. It also maximizes your resolution so you don't need to know what you're doing. You can sav...

USB Hubs?
Hey guys, do any of you have recommendations for good, quality USB hubs (preferably ones with USB 3.0 capabilities... planning for the future)? I'm looking for recommendations that you've used before. I purchased a 7 slot USB hub from micro center which has 4 2.0 slots and 3 3.0 slots. Unfortunately...

Re: Noob question regarding samples and loops
In arrange view or clip view? Clip view: Drop your mp3 into a Sampler instrumetn and then set the start and end points inside the sampler. Create a new clip and draw in a midi note on C3 and drag it to cover the entire bar. Adjust the bar length if necessary. Arrange view: Isolate what you want to l...

Re: Do I need a vox preamp/compressor between mic & sound card?
Gig setup? So live.. cool. Live's compressor does the trick and if you have Live 9 you have the new glue compressor which offers an alternative. You can drop a utility plugin on the track to give it extra gain. This is especially useful if your singer is really really quiet at times as the gain/comp...

Re: which synth...
Start with Analog (Live's Analog) and then Operator. They're both relatively simple to understand synths. Even I, a person who's never created my own synth sounds, was able to understand how to use it after a few video tutorials. Plus, Analog has such rich sexy sounds you can get out of it. Just lis...

Re: Where oh where do I put my snare?
Thanks for all the replies guys. Maybe I didn't make my original post clear enough. I DO understand snare syncopation and putting it off the beat to mix it up (someone said something about hip hop drums putting a snare on the first & of the bar). I get that. What I'm talking about is more of how...

Where oh where do I put my snare?
For as long as I've been playing music, most 4/4 stuff, in my mind, has had snare hits on the 2 and 4 of the bar. When you discuss reggae and other "world" music, a lot of the times the snare is on the 3. I get that. BUT... lately I've been seeing a lot of electronic musicians putting thei...
