Re: What game are you playing now

They might as well say "That current gen box you have that hasn't reached its potential yet isn't shit compared the console that technically doesn't exist yet. At any rate, prepare to be disappointed when your console does reach it's potential because, as we're saying, it's shit. You should ha...

Re: Too risky to buy a firewire interface these days?

I have this interface. I have not used it with windows, but I have had problems with osx. In Elcapitan the os will shut off the device when the os thinks its not and use. The only way to get the device to work again is to reboot the system. In Yosemite the device will stop working when the system go...

Re: Operator's filter doesn't work

do you mean that when you let go of a key and let the note sustain the filter no longer works? Is the filter not working when a clip is playing?
Is your keyboard mapped to the filter to do something like trigger the filter on and off?

I also use both.
It would be nice if some day I could use one single operating system that would run everything. With proprietary systems the user always wins.

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

How do you guys get the stamina to mess with sound? It seems like you guys must be very dedicated. Some times I open up live or logic and think "no god, please not again" I have an ms-20 mini sitting next to my desk being used mostly as art. I look at it and think 'your pretty and i know y...

Re: Buying new gear what happens to your old gear?

https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=214711 :x In all seriousness, I'm about ready for a VST clear out, along with some hardware. My method with hardware is Craigslist and insanely cheap. I don't have the patience with hardware to wait for a bite or ebay etc. Plus I love a good deal, ...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

Logic is just painful for serious audio work now,: Logic is painful for any work now. Composing simple edits its a bug fest. Try adding a drummer track with the drummer "leah" or any electronic drummer Now add the defualt drummer track "kyle" now within the new drummer track &qu...

Buying new gear what happens to your old gear?

Every time something shiny and new comes out we want that new thing. I want the Roli Seaboard, but I was thinking.. What do I do with all the midi controllers I currently have. If I trade them in some one else will get them, but ultimately they are going to end up in a landfill someday. Is there a b...

Re: If I have around £400 to spend on VST's/Plugins....

There are plenty of tutorials on youtube If I had a budget of $400 and I was new to this knowing what I know now I would get Native Instruments Komplete You will get everything you need plus more that you will be able to use down the road. You will be able to cover all electronic genres with Live 9 ...

Re: Soft synths and plugins are so much better than hardware

I mostly posted this for kids who might be just starting out. When I first started making music with computers the synths and effects where not that great ( NI's pro 53, the stock synths in cubase ect. ). Back then I was a kid just starting out and would always run into the analogue crowd basically ...

IMO Soft synths and plugins are much better than hardware

The library where I live allows me to check out synthesizers and effects so the last few weeks I have demo'd a lot of hardware. I have to say in my opinion software blows the shit out of hardware. When it comes to versatility, ease of use, preset management, and the time and energy(including electri...

Re: my local library allows people to check out synths & effects

I have a Hoover Synth Library too. It's well gnarly. What I wanted to ask, did you find any randomly underlined/highlighted parameters? Like someone circled GLIDE RATE with a sharpie? That would have actually worked well with the odyssey. I spent what seems like an hour trying to figure out w...
