Next up on debating hour, 'Pro Tools HD vs. Renoise' After all, they both run on a computer, they both enable you to make music... My point is, why should Ableton feel the need to reduce their prices when they have something unique? Where is the incentive? If you want the session view, y...

Reading people talking about eating in NYC is making me envious :( Over here in Portsmouth, UK, I had a sandwich I brought from home for lunch today. Chedder cheese, pickled shallots, mayo and salad. I've just had dinner, and had gnocchi with my homemade pasta sauce and some roasted chicken with sal...

UK Apple Store Logic Studio £312 Ableton Suite £527.53 You get a LOT more in the Logic box. However, I have both, but use Live 95% of the time... What you don't get in the Logic box is... 'session view'. I know I sound like a stuck record, and I know the point everyone is making... But I still say ...

No no. 4080 is "Never make the rider bread smaller than the rider meat"
Why can't the bread be smaller than the meat? Just fold the meat so it fits the bread. :D

If the Francis Bacon exhibition is still on at the Tate Britain, I'd reccommend it. A trip to the Tate Modern is also a must for me, and I'd take in the Dali show on the South Bank.

When Cubase, Logic, Sonar, ProTools etc. have a session view, then I'll listen to feature comparisons.

As it stands, they are all useless to me, so price is irrelevant.

I wanted to extrapolate some of the ideas regarding the trends, products and branding both companies have developed. Maschine and APC 40 presented a unique lens through which to examine these differences. The industry is at a critical point and I wanted to flush out some thoughts about what clues M...

My view is that if M4L was included as part of Live, it could make Live seem bloated to those people who want to use Live for it's core purpose. It could actually put people off. For example, I know DJ's who stick with Traktor because they see Live, as it is, as too complicated by comparison. I'm no...

It is indeed a GOOD technique; and not just for dub.

Spent some time with my new NanoKontrol last night. Loving it so far! I particularly like the way you can set attack/release times for the buttons. And the editor is nice and simple too. Having said earlier that controlling just a few parameters is liberating, I may well add a second NK to give me a...

OK, so I had a play around last night and ended up completely ignoring my new NanoKontrol! :D I didn't see the link to that video until this morning, so I'll check that out tonight. I couldn't get the Wiimote to control hits from Impulse, although I did manage to control a Drum Rack. I'm also not su...

Amy Winehouse is the greatest British female artist since Kate Bush. You are a music fool. Piss artist, maybe  Seriously though, I don't agree with this comparison. Bush is an 'artist' in the true sense of the word. Amy Winehouse has a great voice when she is sober, but has incoherently waile...

I'll try and have a look myself tonight... what exactly do you want to control? Impulse hits from waving the Wiimote around? Have you got a Nunchuk too, or just a Wiimote? (although the NanoKontrol I ordered has literally just dropped on my desk, so I may be too busy playing with that later ) ...

I messed around with GlovePIE, a Wiimote, and the Classic Controller last weekend. I actually had a lot of fun :D I particularly liked controlling the QWERTY cursor keys with the Wiimote d-pad, and using therefore being able to remotely launch clips/scenes. I guess you could map the transport contro...
