Re: Black Friday Deals
:!: Be careful with waves. Just because they call it Black Friday Sales, they are not necessarily cheaper. I've been waiting for their sales to start, because I've been looking to buy their SSL-Collection. It's now on sale for $499,- at Waves ( http://waves.com/content.aspx?id=11880 ) But at Thomann...

Re: Anyone use Twin2 by Fabfilter?
I'm also a big fan of the Fabfilter products. Especially Volcano I absolutely love. But twin2 is actually my least used softsynth. The basic sound you get out of it is not aggressive enough for me. But I guess it really depends on the type of music you make! Whenever I need this type of sound, I usu...

Re: Cubase 5... Seriously, wtf??
I feel ya! I think once you understand and get used to the concept of Live, all the "traditional" DAWs seem like they're not up to date anymore. The workflow of Live just feels natural. Other DAWs seem to be a lot of hassle to do "simple stuff". However, once I start doing the re...

Re: What are your bad music, writing habits?
I find myself often writing overbearing chords progressions that fall right on the beat. The best word I can use to describe it is "plodding". I do it too often. It's annoying. I realize that I really need to unlearn it and develop better habits. How about anyone else here? Maybe you don'...

Re: Is it okay to compare your music to others?
I say: Listen to contemporary artists!!! If you make music only for yourself: Make sure you know what's going on around you, because you can pick up some nice tricks along the way to incorporate in your own music. There are a lot of good musicians out there nowadays. And it would be a shame to miss ...

Re: APC40 Power Button Gone
I will have to open it myself, because I already own it for over 2 years.
Does anyone have any tips when opening it up? Are there maybe technical drawings of the APC40 on the internet?
Thanks

APC40 Power Button Gone
I just wanted to turn on my APC40 and when I pushed in the power button I just pushed it all the way into the APC40. Now there's a hole in the place where it used to be http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/uncloned/APC40.jpg I thought these controllers were supposed to be build like a tank for live...

Convert the infidels!
Fellow Ableton Live users! I have the opportunity to show in my music class why Ableton Live is The DAW to go to. So far we've discussed Pro Tools, Logic and Cubase during the lessons. I know I can just copy the features mentioned on the Product page, but I would really want to convert some souls! :...

Re: Compressing a group channel?
Do it like this: Send all your different tracks except the track of your voiceover, to the same track (in my case "2 BUS") and set monitor on the "BUS" track to "In". Put a compressor over it. Sidechain it with the audio from your voiceovertrack... C'est tout! Good luck...

Re: Original synthesis versus Presets
Presets can be perfect to create a song with. I myself use mainly self created patches and/or self recorded samples, though. That's because I like the process of creating my own sounds. But this is very time consuming. Millions of bands use the presets in their hardware and software synths. It's jus...

Re: How to 'favourite' presets in Ableton Browser?
... A favourite system is high on my Ableton Live wishlist. Something with stars or colour-filtering would be very nice to have. Also I would like to see a system where you can filter on keywords like in Native Instruments or Logic Pro. This is very nice when looking for certain types of sounds when...

Re: About AKAI MPK,MPC and other MIDI controllers
I use an APC40 in the studio and it really makes me more creative! I would try effect changes on the fly and change clips orders etc... and it really shows me possibilities, which I would not have tried if I'd only use my mouse and keyboard. I can control 2 knobs at the same time, just to hear how i...
