Re: overdub recording with total overwrite?

I understand this as a concept-but in practice when I do this the notes are still behaving in a way that is similar to overdub, even with overdub switched off. The behaviors seem to be subtlety different but it is definitely not completely overwriting all notes that overlap in time Is this behavior ...

Re: overdub recording with total overwrite?

that doesn't work either with session view- if you play notes in different octaves they will still overlap in time- is there a way to make it more like an overwrite that effects notes across all octaves?

overdub recording with total overwrite?

Hello I am interested in recording some clips live for the purpose of looping them, but I am wondering if there is anything like an overdub mode that completely overwrites the clip contents if new notes are pressed? For example With the standard overdub mode implemented, if you play a rhythm consist...

Re: LFO to PAN causing clicking/popping

daft question: why not use the native AutoPan device? It will be lighter on resources. Hi Angstrom, My end goal is to use XY input from an LCD object in a max for live patch. I am just speaking about it in terms of an LFO here in the forum since not everyone has my LCD patch and the lfo behaves ide...

LFO to PAN causing clicking/popping

Hello I am currently trying to set a max for live lfo to control panning on a track in ableton. I have tried the midi and audio based LFO, tried applying to the primary track PAN as well as the PAN on an ableton Filter Delay. No matter what I do I seem to get constant popping/clicking ontop of the a...

Quantizing/smoothing/simplifying recorded automation

Is there a way to select a portion of recorded automation and quantize/smooth/simplify it in ableton 9? I'm imagining something like if what I record via midi is similar to a beizer curve then rather than keeping it in a form where the curve is made up of hundreds of points you could select it and h...

Multiple modulation sources for a single parameter in live

Hello, if I want to have a parameter be effected by multiple sources of modulation, for instance have a filter cutoff modulated by an lfo AND an an envelope, how can I do that? Is anybody aware of a modulation mixer OR a way to have multiple control sources effect a single parameter? Would love to h...

basic compressor question, amplifying instead of ducking

I am fairly familiar with using Live's built in compressor for sidechaining, however to date I have only really used it for ducking a signal (ie. everytime the kick drum hits it makes the volume of another channel go down) my question is- IS THERE A WAY TO DO THE OPPOSITE, ie. everytime the kick dru...

plugin auto open on preset drag

Anytime I open a preset that I have saved, Ableton automatically opens up plugin windows for every third party plugin used in that preset. Is there anyway to turn this off so that I don't have to close 15+ windows everytime I load a custom preset that uses a lot of third party plugs?

Re: triggering multiple voices of same note-polyphonic sampler

I actually found another way to do it with a single cell of drumrack, load the sample in, turn up the polyphony to 32, turn off retrigger and it will trigger new instances of that sample from hitting a single note up to 32 voices, if you wanted to use more voice than that then you could spread out o...

triggering multiple voices of same note-polyphonic sampler

I am trying to create a situation where the same sample is triggered many times rapidly but I would like the sample to play through fully each time it is triggered. I am running into an issue however where although the Sampler instrument is polyphonic, every time it receives a trigger for the same n...
