...and let us map all the knobs!
Live can't midi-learn knobs on its own device? I call shenanigans.

Re: Syncing Key as well as tempo?
We've done that to sync tempo, I hadn't even thought to try recording it.bosonHavoc wrote:if everyone is on a mac you could set up a network and send midi over the network,
i have done it one time just to check it out and it seemed to work pretty good

Re: Syncing Key as well as tempo?
Hmmmm, that is some great stuff, thanks. We do actually change time signatures a lot too, so that would come in handy. I hadn't heard of clyphx, that may solve another thing for me too. Basically, we have 3 people, each playing their own instance of Live, then I have a central Live machine (it's a 1...

Re: Can Push's rotory knobs be bound in "Track" view?
I hear that. I'm setting up a Nanokontrol and complicating my live setup simply because I can't remap the unused knobs.Rhypht wrote:That's a shame. It's such a waste to have those six rotary knobs up there with nothing mapped to them.
Seems odd. I mean, it's their own software...

Re: Live setup with push
I have a couple that I use, my favorite is the Focusrite 18i6. The things that put it over the top (for me) are: 1) The mic preamps on tracks 1 and 2 are beautiful. I don't use them often, but when I do they sound great. 2) The midi port -- when playing live I used to always have to hook up a Midisp...

Re: How do you get movie/tv/speech samples to cut through?
Thanks, another thing that someone suggested that I'm going to try is: 1) use a monitor feed as an input track, and 2) use it as a side chain for a compressor on the sample track. I use samples in everything I record solo, which works fine, but playing live with others is a whole other beast. What I...

Re: How do you get movie/tv/speech samples to cut through?
Cut out the low frequencies (under 150-250 Hz.) Try it until the speech looses its fatness (maybe up to 600-800 Hz), and go back where it sounds best. And limit it. Normalizing only gets the sound closer to 0 Db. Limiting however, lowers the volume when it peaks with a fast attack time, so you can ...

Re: Please allow Live to load with no audio device selected
I don't rmember seeing that before, is this on a Windows machine? It's a Mac. Basically, I use the "Core Audio" or whatever the default sound device is in the Mac when I'm mobile, then in the studio I connect to either an 18i6 or a Toneport UX1. If I was using one of the external modules ...

Syncing Key as well as tempo?
I'm regularly playing with another Push user and a keyboardist who uses Live, and we've got the machines syncing tempo just fine. I'm wondering if there's a way to sync the Key as well, so if the midi "Master" machine changes to, say E flat, the other Push machines do as well. Has anyone f...

Please allow Live to load with no audio device selected
Could you make it so that Live *does* load when there is no audio device selected, but still pops up a warning dialog while it loads in the background? That would still make it clear that there's an issue, but prevent the situation where you start/restart live, walk away, come back and find that not...

How do you get movie/tv/speech samples to cut through?
I've been jamming a lot with another Push player and a keyboardist, all of us using Live. Once I get a few loops going, I tend to start pulling up samples from movies, from speeches, from lectures (tim leary, alan watts, deadwood, jack nicholson movies, etc.). Even if I normalize them and clean them...

Re: Always send cc7 to the active track?
What is STS?! Bah, I meant STC . It lets me use the single pedal on cc7 to control volume on the active track, but it's set up like any other MIDI input, so to have it work on a track I can't set it to use just the Push for the MIDI in, it needs input from both the Push and STC. So I can set the Ad...

Re: Always send cc7 to the active track?
I'm trying to use cc7 from my FCB1010 to control volume on whatever track I'm actively using on the Push. Is there a way to handle this natively in Live? There's a Volume control for each track on the Push, I just want to control it with a foot pedal.... [EDIT] I've gotten STS to mostly do what I w...
