How do you read a spectrum analyzer??

I am having a spot of trouble with this. I have always thought that the root note is likely to be the loudest therfore will be the highest peak on the analyzer. Is this wrong? and Analyzing things with a lot of harmonic content makes it even more diffucult to establish the root key (if what I am pro...

Re: KICK DRUM TUNING - SYNC WITH SYNTH BASS - ADVICE NEEDED

Schnerg - That is genius

This might be worthy of another post, but how do you read a spectrum analyzer? Is it that the root note will be the loudest or display the highest peak?

Re: Compressing Kick and Clap together

I would put em on a seperate channel so you can apply different settings for your different needs adding reverb, delays and maybe a bit of saturation to make it bite.. Generally speaking I would not compress my claps as you lose the life in the transient.

Re: Help regarding frequencies

I am going to have a bit of a crack at this. Lets assume that your headphones are hyping the mid and upper bass frequencies but have no sub bass response and your monitors are pretty flat. I would go with the monitors as they might be telling you whats going on at the bottom end where as your headph...

Copy stuff and pan it for a cheap way. Or use Izotope Ozone for a much better effect.

Re: hum/noise when charger is plugged into laptop

You have a ground loop problem. Without meaning to sound like I know what I am talking about the electricity runs from the plug basically around your system and back to your plug (or socket or 4 gang depending on what you are using). You need something to stop this and it should not cost more than £...

Track in Defected competition

I have a track in a competition on Defected website and I am canvasing votes. It seems as though you have to get 4 stars to be in the top 10. I think what is happening is many people that have put a track up are going around other people's tracks and voting it 1, bringing the overall level down. Any...

Use multi samples. Don't distort one sample. Or buy something like Akoustk Piano by NI.

Sub is everything below 80 so why cut it all out? High pass at 30, layer up your kick. EQ don't compress bring up between 2 and 5 for the transients.

Well I have decided that I will get the drums sorted and probably just shrink it all down and move it to the end as I tend not to touch it after I have got it balanced, just have a drum buss in with the main instruments. I have not tried loading up a rack of Simplers yet but when I do I will come ba...
