Tips for Making a Solid Sub-Bass
Hey guys! So I'm curious as to what I can do to make a sub-bass really sound great. Do I want to start with a sine wave and add saturation and distortion to add some high-end? Do I want to start with a saw wave or something and filter out the higher frequencies and boost the lower ones? I'm curious ...

How to Disable Specific Buttons on the APC 40 with M4L
Hey guys! So I've been writing some programs that control some added elements of Ableton and can be controlled with my APC 40. For instance, I've been toying with re-purposing unused buttons on the APC 40 to perform actions like deleting clips or adding new audio or midi tracks. My question, though,...

Re: Looking For Programmer For Max For Live Using The Launch Pad
What type of thing are you looking for specifically. The Launchpad can already trigger sound effects and clips in Ableton so what would you like to use Max for Live for?

Re: Condenser Mic Recommendations for Guitar / Voice
So until now I've been using the Audio-Technica AT2020, an entry-level condenser mic and I'm not entirely satisfied with the sound from it. Does anyone know if the difference between this and the Rode NT1-A would be enough to justify the buy?

Condenser Mic Recommendations for Guitar / Voice
Hey guys! So I'm looking into buying a new condenser mic for recording and I was hoping to get some recommendations. I'm primarily going to be recording guitar and vocals and occasionally some other sounds from various different instruments. Are there any good condenser mics that anyone can recommen...

Maschine Mikro MkII Midi Mode Dropouts
Hey guys, I haven't really been able to find anything online about this but I have the Maschine Mikro MkII and I find that almost every time I put it in Midi Mode and try to use it with Ableton, none of the midi data gets sent to Ableton and it can't even recognize the Maschine as connected. I use a...

Re: Can I assign choke groups to MIDI instruments?
So, to understand your question a bit better, you want the glockenspiel to act monophonic for certain notes for polyphonic for others?
What are you using to play the glockenspiel? Simpler?

Re: Does clipping above 0db actually cause worse audio quality?
I wouldn't necessarily say that clipping always sounds bad but in almost all cases it will and you'll want to avoid it. I say that because the effect that clipping provides may not always be seen as negative to a track but regardless, clipping will always alter the waveform of your audio, essentiall...

How to Stop Devices from Sending Values at Startup
Hey guys! So I'm basically trying to make a little Max for Live patch that'll send out all the correct midi CC messages to my Volca Keys but I'm running into an annoying problem. Every time I load the patch, before I move any of the knobs, the patch automatically sets all of the values to 0 when loa...

Re: Let's talk field recorders
I use the Tascam DR-07 and it works great. It's got two microphones that you can rotate to record in either XY or AB and the stereo spacing the thing gets is insane. It picks up quite a bit of wind though, but otherwise I have no real complaints with it.

Re: Electrical Humming from Guitar
I have an Epiphone Standard. It could definitely be a grounding issue. I know that the outlets in my house aren't properly grounded. I read though that because the humming cuts out when I touch it, it wouldn't be a grounding issue. I don't know how true that is though.

Electrical Humming from Guitar
Hey guys, I've been playing my guitar through Ableton through my audio interface and I've noticed that whenever I'm not touching the strings, I can hear a pretty audible electrical humming which instantly goes away if I touch any of my strings at all.
What could this be?
Thanks,
Charlie

You can also right click the arm button and de-select "arm exclusive" which will keep a track armed until you hit the arm button for that track again.

Re: Is Digital Amplification Bad?
Thanks for all the info. So, just to clarify, besides from potentially raising the noise in the recording, there's no actual quality loss with digital amplification?
