I liked that jam session meeting. Lots of very interesting chilling, groovy and some rather experimental music in the air. Unfortunately my BCR2000 was really flaky that evening. I guess the OP wants to elicit the behaviour when the button is clicked with CTRL/CMD key held down.
I think there's no other way of achieving this except for holding CTRL (PC)/CMD (Mac) while clicking the solo button.

You need to assign each axis of the x-y pad separately.
The pad sends one or two controllers per axis so e.g. a diagonal stroke on the pad can send up to 4 controller messages simultaneously.

I guess you cannot map Live's x-y pad but assign midi controls to the single parameters that it represents.
