The same rule as for the .als files is to be applied to the clip settings saved in the .asd file: Live 4 cannot read the clip settings saved by Live 5. This file appears when you arm a track. The next recording goes
into it. The file remains unusable until recording has finished.
It is prepared in advance to reduce the delay when starting

I mailed the developers of audacity and they said it's a live 4 thing. This is a problem in Live 4 - audacity will be working simply as an audio editor on the file you supply.
