Push 2 vs. APC40 MKII and others
Sorry if this topic has been covered Ad Nauseam but the search function is not my friend today. As I'm thinking about live performance I've realized a few limitations inherent in my Push 1. Since there are no user assignable knobs or an overall "Song Macro" section where I can midi map kno...

Re: Does a reliable audio interface really exist?
Been having driver support issues with my RME Babyface. I'm on a Macbook. Yosemite 10.10.3.

Re: Gain staging advice?
Thanks for the advice. Turns out I was just being too conservative. Things were sounding nice at such a low volume allowing so much headroom though! I've got the speakers pumping nicely now that I've done a little more reading and measuring. Amazing what a little gain staging can accomplish. Now tha...

Re: Gain staging advice?
Silly me, I thought that EQ8 had a built in peak meter. Or maybe I'm just not reading it right. I got the Melda Loudness Analyzer and found that I wasn't sending nearly as loud of a signal as I thought. Thanks for the reading material though, I'll need it on the road to getting the sound right in th...

Gain staging advice?
Basically I'm not left with any volume by the time I get everything mixed properly. With the kick drums sitting in the mix how I want them they are peaking at -6 and almost everything else is peaking at or below -12 except the bass which is up there around -6 as well. Should I be staging everything ...

Re: RME Babyface Vs. UAD Apollo Duo Vs. Apogee Rosetta 200
UAD did kinda convince me with their plug-in scheme but I'm definitely going to look into Metric Halo per Machines suggestion. Thanks a lot guys, this is super helpful info. Guess the Babyface sounds better than ever at this point.

RME Babyface Vs. UAD Apollo Duo Vs. Apogee Rosetta 200
I know quite a few forum members are fans of the Babyface but I'd really be interested in hearing some dissenters opinions! I read one review of the Babyface claiming the Rosetta 200 had a "wider" signal (??). A small footprint is nice but more important is the sound, baby. And sp/dif so I...

Solo button follows quantization in Session View
An option for the Solo button in Session View to follow the global clip quantization for the more DJ performance oriented folks among us. It could be an option that could be toggled depending on whether one is producing or playing live or just tinkering. I think most people who use Session view a lo...

Re: Mac system opinions, please
I haven't used Windows 10 tbh so you have a valid point there. Bitwig is supposed to run on Linux, right? Hmmm... BeOS? I don't know. I just know that I am getting increasingly pissed off with Apple.

Re: Mac system opinions, please
Considering moving away from Apple here although I'll try out el capitan before I make the switch. I'm on Yosemite with a 2012 MBP 2.7 ghz 8GB Ram and I think Yosemite sucks. Apple is moving it's computers away from workhorse models into the realm of entertainment systems. The way they try to brick ...

Re: Getting a full synth sound in Ableton Live 9 Suite
You might as well throw an eq, saturator, and compressor on there and see if you get results. Often when I'm working with a simple single oscillator sound I will employ all three to get the desired results from any soft synth. If you aren't well accustomed to using the effects then try one at a time...
