Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I doubt that has anything to do with it. It that were the case, everyone who updated their machines to Mavericks would be experiencing these issues. It has something to do with these new machines, what I don't know.

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I just spoke with a senior tech in Pro Audio at Apple about this issue. He's heard nothing about it. I said it was causing me to hesitate in the purchase of a MBP. He did say that Logic pro 10 is still not officially compatible with Mavericks - and that when it is, an update will show up in the sto...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I'm not trying to argue, I'm not trying to troll, and I'm not being an Apple faboi, I'm seriously trying to help. I'm portable all the time, I work with just my laptop and the onboard soundcard out and about while travelling or just to get away from the studio very often. I use my MBP to DJ, to pro...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

These new machines with their faster processors and improved software should have at least SLIGHTLY better latency than it's predecessor, or even the same. But it's the opposite which is not good at all. Regardless of how high or low you set the buffer, these machines are worse than LAST YEAR'S mod...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I have the same laptop you guys are talking about, with the default soundcard I can lower the latency to a rediculous 32 samples and get a latency of 7.82 ms. That's WAY lower than you need to write music, use guitar effects, DJ, you name it. That's how long it takes sound to reach your ears from a...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I guess my point is, who cares what the new default is, you can still lower it to whatever you want. Wrong. If everything has 10 ms more latency than it used to, one cannot lower it to *whatever* they want. They may be able to lower it to "what they want + 10ms", but no lower. Exactly. Th...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

16.7 at 512 here, though since you can just change the latency if needed, not sure why this is an issue for some people. Because that's really high compared to what it should be. Last year's model had much lower latency with the same settings. Regardless of how high or low you set the buffer, the l...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

What buffer size are you using? The buffer size is irrelevant. We're not retarded. Fact is the SAME SETTINGS on the last gen retina had significantly lower latency. Other users are reporting the same issues with Logic and various buffer settings. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/88062...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

I bought a new MacBook Pro last week but returned it because the one I got had the freezing issue. Which has yet to be resolved. What freezing issues? What led you to take back the computer? I just bought a new MacBook Pro also and I am having audio issues with my Apogee Duet iOS. It works fine on ...

Re: Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

Yes I'm running 10.9 with Live 9.0.6
I'm hoping it's just a Mavericks issue that will be fixed. Haven't tried the beta yet, maybe I'll give it a try and see if anything changes.

And no I haven't tried any external audio interfaces yet. This is just with the built in audio so far.

Weird 2013 Macbook Retina Latency Issue

Ok so I just got my brand new 2013 15" Macbook Pro retina, fully maxed out with 1TB SSD and 16gigs of RAM. Going through the long process of reinstalling everything and putting my settings how I like them when I noticed something weird. When I open up Ableton, under the Audio preferences tab it...
