Zabiela using Live at Cielo

Just got back from seeing Zabiela at Cielo. He was rumoured to have been using Live to do his whole set. Not sure how true it is, but it definitely sounded like it what with some "stutter" style effects here and there. Booth was too high to see over, but there was a telltale laptop glow goin' on bac...

Yes, the ability to "play" "slices" from a MIDI keyboard would be quite nice. . .

Very true, but I guess I'm a bit of a control freak. I want to know how to do it myself. And I tend I find to learn better when I'm sitting there with the person so I can see what they're doing. . . .

I wish. Unfortunately I don't have the time/money ratio that is usually required of an intern.

Thanks for the replies so far. . . Thing is that I tend to be a "hands on" learner. For example, I had a guy once show me "how" to compress things . .or at least a rough idea. I had read all this stuff about it prior to that, and while I "got" the concept, I could just never replicate what I was rea...

YO, Mix Gurus!!

I've been feeling for a long time that what holds me back personally is that ability to get a clean phat mix out of my productions. So to that end, I'm gonna post up locally looking for some experienced engineers who are willing to teach for cash. My question though, since my genre is largely electr...

Here's a question though. . . The room I write in is . .well it's not huge, but big enough (and with hardwood floors) that I think the acoustics are a bit off and it doesn't sounds as "tight" as it could. So, should one be choosing a mic to compensate for this? Or at least take that into account? Or...

I'll second this question. . been thinking the same thing myself lately.

There was one that came well recommended, if a few years ago now, I'll see if I can find the name/review. . .

See? Knew it was dead easy. Thanks for the help.

(And actually it turns green when on, that's the other override that turns red).

Probably Very Easy Question.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm not even sure what the terminology is for it so a search was kinda fruitless. It's pretty simple really. . . Say I record a MIDI part of whatever length, doesn't matter. Something basic though. Then I want to ad-lib over the top of that, but NOT RECORD un...
