Re: Stuff in Live you wish you figured out a long time ago
Speaking of Slice...I may be the last one to figure this out, but I just learned how to use that kinda like Groove Template. I still am using Live 7 and I'm not a drummer and not that great at programming MIDI drum clips that I like the feel of (excellent grammar, eh?). So... I found a loop I like t...

Re: Question about Audacity.
Audacity is a good editor and it will do all those things. It might not be as easy as more expensive programs. So at some point, the time required to prepare tracks might make something more expensive start looking appealing.

Re: Loop clicks
Another thing to check: This can happen if the sample is not edited to start and/or end on a "zero crossing" point. Check the sample in Audacity or some sound editor. Zoom 'way in. Both the start and end of the file should be edited so they're cut right where the waveform crosses the 0 line.

@leedsquietman
Any particular convolution reverb you like the sound of? I'm thinking of trying the SIR2. http://www.knufinke.de/sir/sir2downloads.html
[edit] Doh! Was so excited about the idea that I didn't see there were 4 pages of posts already. Sorry.

Re: Multi-Song Setup Help
We use Session View, with Scenes for each part of the song (verse, chorus, etc). Sometimes, we use Follow Actions for all the clips in a given row, to move through the song as we normally will. From there, you could set clips to toggle and map to individual clips (leaving them out of the Follow Acti...

Don't know yet, but I'll tell you in a couple days how the Fast Track Ultra works. Looks like we've got similar machines.
Mine's a Pavilion dv7, dedicated vid card, 4GB ram.

Re: Tap Tempo Confusion, your help sirs
Not sure if there's a better way, but there are a couple controls that you only will see when in MIDI map mode, that allow you to control Next Scene or Previous Scene. I use one of the knobs on my keyboard for this. So, I can quickly scroll up or down through scenes. I think you can also set these u...

Re: Tap Tempo Confusion, your help sirs
You've got it right. That tap function is for the currently selected scene. So, we have to figure out an easy way for you to select the scenes you want (easily) before tapping the 2nd...nth scenes.

Enhanced Arpeggiator
I've seen a couple variations of this, buried in lists or other posts. I'd like a fully user definable arpeggiator. I'm no expert, so I don't know what all the possiblities are -- others can add the finer points. What I'd like is ability to create & save my own Arpeggio patterns. Ideally, this would...

Re: How do I Get a Better Sound From the Default "Ride" Clip?
Since "good" is so subjective, how 'bout telling us of a song that has nice-sounding ride cymbals (to your taste)?
Or, you can find a ride sample you do like (anywhere, not just in Live) and drag it into the impulse or rack in the ride spot to replace the one you don't like.

Re: Backward compatibility?
many many people would like to see this feature but how many Live upgrades have been sold because of the lack of this feature? then they'd have to design new code so that it wouldn't break old versions...it's a lot more work, more code bloat... Point taken, but...It's not bloat if the feature is tr...

Re: Backward compatibility?
Not that I know of, but this is probably my #1 wish list item. Obviously, not a lot of people clamoring for it, but it would sure help me.
