Auto update not working here either. Get updates is enabled in prefs, OS X & Live 8.3.3

Are you selecting ABL2 in the second 'MIDI from' box?

No you're not, you're only selecting it in the top box and underneath it says 'Pre FX' or 'Post FX'

Step 1 Load ABL2 VST (not AU) Create clip and draw in a note corresponding to the pattern you want to trigger Go to ABL2 options and activate MIDI output (second option). You can set which midi channel to output on in the preferences although it's not completely necessary, outputting to the default...
