Ableton are usually pretty good replying to emails if you make it clear what you were doing and what went wrong.

I would normally call what you are looking for 'multiple takes' and 'composite takes'. Comping in music more often refers to keyboard players left hand chord progressions, especially hammond organ for some reason :? . As a poor Max programmer I would say it would be a bit of a stretch. Is the Back to the Arrangement' button lit (next to the OVR button in the transport)?

If so click it and sound will happen. This is usually caused by making changes in Session view then returning to Arrangement view - you should read up about this in the manual

You need the Pitch plugin (from Midi Effects in the Device Browser)
