Buss & Master processing

Hi guys, Question about buss vs channel processing. For a little while now I have 2 main buss groups (Beats & Sounds), each have Slate VCC and a very small amount of tape saturation. The master has the same plus a small amount mojo from a vintage EQ plugin (N.I. Massive Passive) to add a little ...

Re: kick drum eq question

Depending on the style you're after (which could mean this is the complete opposite to what you want!), a very common approach to kick drums to take out some of the low mids. The part I think you're asking after is the 100-400hz area - I often take a lot out of there. Have a read about the old Pulte...

Re: Ableton Live 10

Upgrade on key native FX (3rd parties welcome!), such as a genuinely good analogue EQ (like the Softube N.I. Massive Passive) - then you'd be in winning land Chord sets (8-16 chords types that work well together) that can be played like within a drum rack style environment General focus on making th...

Re: Location and storage of files when dragged into a project

Thanks guys, so although it's uncompressing them into wav files, they're not getting duplicated, just stored in the cache (unless of course, I collect and save). I just found a stack of old 'clip packs' as I call them (tracks cut up into cue points) that I saved for when I DJ'ed with Live and just w...

Location and storage of files when dragged into a project

Hi Guys, I have seriously limited HD space left and I'm not exaggerating when I say every MB counts right now! It's being sorted but I have a query before I start doing something ;) I want to drag in mp3s into the arrange view and test different ones out for a mixtape, but if they aren't used, I don...

Re: me so stupid: ableton and midi controllers / bcr 2000

There's scripts out there I believe for various different uses of the BCR 2000.

I myself would like one so that it controls my soft synths (for multiple instances, LEDs change to reflect the next instance of that synth loaded), but I've never worked it out.

Hoping someone can help us both out!

Re: Browse, load and control VSTs from Push

Hey Syver We have included Analog Lab in our Arturia pack, but not Analog Laboratory. Our Analog Lab pack has the approximately 5,200 presets categorised into 'Multi' and 'Sounds'. These can all be browsed and loaded from Push, then controlled with Push's encoders. Thanks and all the best Stevie Hi...

Resampling - does it include the master chain FX?

Here's the scenario: I have channel which is routed via group channel (which has FX on it) and this then goes to the master bus with some additional FX. If I load up a new seperate audio track, turn monitoring to IN and to resampling, then record the first channel in solo, does it record to the new ...

Re: Do you know how to read your meters? -18dBfs theory?

A lot of the -18 theory is based on the vintage plugin emulations I think. A lot of them also model the way they react to input levels. Obviously a vintage piece of gear will react much different to a really hot signal vs a low one.

So I think this is mostly relating to that.

Re: What to choose instead of a macbook pro?

I'm also really keen to hear peoples thoughts here, specifically about the live situation. My Live set has 4 channels, each with a chain of 4-5 Ableton FX (20 total) 4 sends (also Ableton plugs) This shouldn't require a super-awesome laptop to run stable (there will be NOTHING else on the there exce...

Looking for use for Launchpad with Push

Hi guys, I have a Push and love it. I had a Launchpad before that and I'm trying to work out a nice way to have both running and still get some use out of the launchpad. The obvious is to use LP for triggering clips in session and Push for notes and parameter control, but as I usually use arrange mo...

Re: Glue Compressor - it's damn good, right?

Back to the glue and compression, I tend to use subtle amounts of both compression and saturation at many points (REALLY small amounts but at every stage - channel, bus and mix bus stage). I was thinking about release settings for master bus, I've often settled on auto so that it will enact to the d...

Re: Glue Compressor - it's damn good, right?

How are you using Saturn exactly? I never got spectacular sounds out of it...Decapitator works better for me. No fuss...Drive knob and tone control, almost always fits in a mix. I've never used Decapitator but I know how many people love it and I've heard it's effect, so it is indeed lovely. Saturn...

Re: Glue Compressor - it's damn good, right?

I appreciate the input, but I guess what I really want is the soft clip (or wave shaper as you say) for each band of EQ8. That way I could drive the lows hard, leave the mids alone and gently drive the highs. If I would want that in a static device, then sure I could set it up in a rack. But I woul...
