Re: Need to integrate DMX control with Ableton/laptop quickly!
You can't do it in Live without extra software. If you have Max For Live then you can do it all inside Live no problems. I use a cheap adapter from DMX King - http://www.dmxking.com - because they are 100% ENTTEC compatible! (fast shipping!) then use this Max For Live patch - http://www.theimpersona...

Re: RAID0 stripe size....
Usually the default is 128kb block sizes for the stripe, this will be fine in 90% of cases, unless the PC is actually a server and contains alot of massive files or tons and tons and tons of very small files. You will not see much difference at all on a regular desktop PC if you change this, so I hi...

Post a screenshot of your MIDI prefs and tell us how you have your FCB plugged in and we'll get it sorted.

Re: Can't record MIDI drums
When you create a clip manually you need to make sure that MIDI overdub is switched on, as you are technically wanting to overwrite an existing MIDI clip (even though it is empty). So make sure the OVR button is lit at the top of the screen. Alternatively, instead of double-clicking to make a clip, ...

Re: assigning more then one instrument to a MIDI keyboard?
I'm not sure that the MPK49 does keyboard split, but I know the MPK61 and MPK88 definitely do it, if that helps.

Re: Launchpad midi question
Yep the Launchpad uses note messages. If you dig around the forum there is info somewhere about how it all works, i've been quite happy using the control surface method so haven't looked too far into it.
I'm sure the forums over at Maxforlive.com will have some more info too.

Re: To People of Ableton
Nah what you have will do the job, i was just trying to point out that from your screenshots it looks like you have ONE midi channel receiving input and going to the second interface, i couldn't see if/where you had mapped the controller to work on laptop 1. you likely need to set up another midi ch...

Re: To People of Ableton
In your MIDI prefs on laptop 1 make sure you have the Track/Sync/Remote buttons lit on the OUTPUT of the Tascam. In your MIDI prefs on laptop 2 make sure you have the Track/Sync/Remote buttons lit on the INPUT of the Romo. That's all that should be required. Also, are you wanting the foot controller...

Re: Launchpad midi question
If you don't use the Ableton Control Surface script that is inbuilt you could use Bome's MIDI translator to do that, or you could try a Max4Live patch that did the same, but there is a steep learning curve there.

Re: Effects of deleting warp markers on warped audio
Warping is non-destructive (i.e. it does not modify the original waveform), and it does the warping realtime. Removing warp marker should restore the clip back to original, however I suggest trying different warp modes. The newer versions of Live have more warping methods, try Complex or Complex Pro...
