I'd really like to see a product that is really similar to ableton, but just isn't ableton you know? Something more underground but made by people who are ok working for free... until that comes i won't write another note.

have you tried grouping all the guitar channels and then dragging that to the browser? I know that would require a different workflow but i think that protects the relationship of the automation and cips.

it shouldn't be an issue where you put the project file...
If you own liquid notes for live or have the demo simply drag the amxd's into their appropriate locations and resave the set. Put LN_Track on the tracks named "# MIDI" and the LN_Global device on the track named Global control.

can you go in and fix the automation and then have it do the switching for you live?

I understand wanting to reduce clutter, but you really have to try it before you decide it's hurting your set. I would make dummy clips for each of your base sounds, then straight midi ...

Take a look at dummy clips. They can do complex switching with the press of a button.
Or of course macro's will work too if you want to do stompbox style.
