Re: hundreds of windows open when trying to edit a patch?
you or the one who created the device saved it with subwindows open. solution: open the device, close all subwindows ( there is a max menu entry for that ) and save the device. if still windows open when loading the device, the device might contain abstractions that were saved with their subwindows ...

Re: Granulator, moving midi clips freezes Live for 10 seconds...
this is not a granulator issue but a general maxforlive problem with devices that have lots of parameters. its very annoying, and high on the list of things that need to be improved. it has to do with the way maxforlive parameters are handled inside live. for now i use granulator more like a modular...

Drag Simpler / Sampler /... in set. adjust volume to what ever you like. Use the context menu in the header to "save as default preset" or something like this. delete Simpler / Sampler / ... in set. Voila: volume is what you defined it to be. Why -12dB: So you can play more voices without ...

Re: Speaker Cable vs. Audio/Mic/Instrument Cable
it should be written somewhere in the manual.
But don't get too confused. if you have instrument cables and it works with them - use them.
if you have mic cables and it sounds alright - use them.
if you get severe hum etc... you'll need to investigate further. but if not, all is fine.

Re: Licensing artwork
No general rules. Common practice is to agree either on a fixed license payment, or on a % of sales or on a mix of both. But it really depends on the number of copies you'll probably going to manufacture / sell. My personal view would be: up to 300 copies: the permission to use the artwork can be pa...

Re: Visual annoyances
Unlike Live's devices Max4Live stuff can be changed by the users. If you don't feel like diving into it by yourself, you might wait a bit; I am sure we will see lots of flavors of the devices soon. At the moment the development priority is to get the initial release as bug-free and stable as possibl...

Re: MAX4LIVE Q2: Things You Don't Like?
I think - as a longtime MaxMSP-User and still beginner - your aim shouldn't be to build the same stuff you get for free or littel money all over the market. Don't try to copy the same functionality or sound you get out of millions of synths, fx and presets. Just start to programm a littel patch and...

Re: digital noise?
Hmm. Well, i would disconnect all I/0 from the sound card and check if the sound is clean using headphones. If there is still a problem, check the latency settings of the audio driver, and set it higher than what it is now. If disconnecting all I/O stuff does solve the problem, step by step reconnec...

Re: digital noise?
Step 1: Tell the people here some facts: What computer? Which OS? What sound-card? Which inputs / outputs connected and to which other equipment? Does the noise change if you open an audio application etc... etc....

Okay. That's EXACTLY the reaction I expected. Even worse than the ...say... Motu support. Will not bye the product. Even a child can make a sinewave.

I really love that wycked bass I can create with this Plug. But there seems to be a problem with the screen. When I play phat bassline, the screen goes totally wrong. Anyone else? Also chords sound wrong.

Re: Max4Live instruction manual?
I can offer a MAX 2.0 manual from Opcode. It is vintage, it is analague, it is in ***mint condition***, it comes with full documentation ( the manual !) It has been stored in a smoke free environment (bookshelf, next to the legendary Notator thingie ). It is ***super rare*** these days. It has been ...

Re: ringing in ear... too much headphone mixing?
A brain tumor is an extremely rare reason for Tinitus. The following is more likely: - too much exposure to too loud sounds - stress - high blood pressure Therefore: - avoid exposure to too loud noises (use pro- earplugs when going out ) (( And btw.: if YOU think it is TOO loud, then it IS too loud....
