Re: Sync Korg ER-1 Electribe with Ableton 8
Sounds like you are close. Although i get the impression you are expecting Live to receive midi from the ER-1, which isn't necessary if all you need is the sequencer to follow Live's transport. If you set the ER-1 to EXT, the device is expecting to receive midi clock from the master. In this case Li...

Re: Can you record a track's volume peaks?
If you want to do this properly you should be looking at true peak metering, and there are several plugins out there that do this. I don't think this should be built into Live though, mixing visually is a dangerous path. Besides true peak metering requires oversampling which is a big CPU hog (afaik,...

"I'm putting an isolation booth in a shed. The booth is good on it's own but not good enough to block out all the surrounding traffic noise. The shed is going to be 10x10x8(ft) I plan on using Resilient Channel Furring (Hat Channel) with whisper clips and 2 sheets of drywall separated with gre...

Re: Is that +62dBFS headroom a really really bad idea?
Here's my attempt at clearing things up: dBFS is only relevant within digital audio systems, with 0 being the absolute maximum. Anything beyond 0 will lead to clipping as the DAC on your sound card cannot go beyond it. Be wary of saying "X" dBVU (and other analog scales) is equal to "...

Re: Volume Meter Plugin for Mastering
Is it right that a RMS-value of -10dB is "perfect"? Well it might be perfect for one style of music, but not for another... A Rock / EDM song is likely to have a much louder RMS than say a classical / acoustic. I really only use it as a comparative benchmark so i can see how much dynamics...

My guess is you have "normalize" enabled in the render settings.

Re: Volume Meter Plugin for Mastering
RMS is perceived loudness, as opposed to Peak which is too fast for the ears.
I also like the Sonalksis FreeG... Slightly off topic, but I find X-ISM is handy to check for inter sample peaks.

Re: Mono into a plugin... stereo out?
I'm not sure I understand what you are expecting from the Filter Freak 2 plugin in terms of functionality. From what i can tell you cant setup the plugin to process left / right channels independently. This thread seems to suggest you cant do this... But I could be wrong  ! My suggested app...

Re: Mono into a plugin... stereo out?
utility (live/audioeffects) width: 0% This will give you a stereo signal where both channels are identical. If you want to process each channel individually i suggest you try creating an effects rack. Using chains and panning you should be able to accomplish what you are after. I use Soundtoys plug...

Re: Removing voice from a song
the basic answer is no. here's 2 ways i can think of attempting it and most likely failing to get something useful: 1. applying a notch EQ around the frequency range of the voice will impact other musical elements, making the mix sound crappy. 2. u could also try to get the original voice stem and d...

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
thanks jake, ok here's a bit more info to clarify the scenario: a friend of mine is considering switching from akai mpc to NI mascine -> daw sequencing. in his setup, it would be to run DFH superior (FYI, its a multilayered drum sample plugin) as a VST / AU instrument (in either Live or Logic). he i...

Re: Anyone seriously use arrangement?
WRT to the alias clips feature, here's my workaround: when u loop a clip in arrangement that is say 2 bars long over a duration of 8 bars, and say u want to introduce a variation on the last 2 bars (of the 8 ). i use the consolidate clip function (apple+J shortcut). This really works well for MIDI, ...

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
ok one question for u maschine users:
is it possible to send the midi out from maschine's internal sequencer to another VST/au instrument?
this would be in real-time, not dragging the midi sequence onto DAW...
thanks,
j
