Oh, look! Another sound quality thread!
yes. we have to do that from time to time.
that way the developers have to work on it again and finally have the money to buy their poor kids new shoes for christmas,
from all those hours working overtime.

Re: Samplitude user disses Live as 'shit for mixing in' at GS

many vst plugins will sound radically different in different applications and different buffer settings. Dude, you're using too much drugs! If a plugin sounds different, while only using different buffer settings, it's changing the laws of physics. I dare you to reproduce your little waves demo on ...

Re: Fade Bug still present! (8.0.9) First Kick sounds different

Is this behaviour not a bit too much on the safe side? Are there other daws that do this? People have been using samplers for more than a decade, to my knowledge not a single sampler starts it's samples with a fade. Also, this should be in the audio guide, since the first start is not true to what i...

Re: Patch Change Events on Live

If I understand you correct that should not be a problem.
You can freeze each clip \ patch combination, flatten those and combine them as audio clips any way you want them.
Then consolidate, or record them to a new clip by sending your clip outputs to a new track.

Re: External Instrument Routing

only two in and outputs, which means you could only pan one sound left and one sound right on your nord.
i'd say just freeze it and use multiple tracks in live to build up the sound.

Re: Inconsistent External MIDI Timing.

I feel your pain; i use somewhere about 15 hardware synths. I also almost gave up, but L8 is an improvement for me and if things do fuck up I record and quantise the audio. Since i hate cubase there are not that many options on pc. But i do wish they'd fix the stupid delay you get when monitoring is...

Re: Inconsistent External MIDI Timing.

Bug or not, longer buffers and worse timing has been around since at least L7.
Try if you get better results with external instrument, or disable delay compensation.

Re: Inconsistent External MIDI Timing.

If I remember correctly: asio buffers influence timing in live, the longer the buffer the more random the midi.
In the screenshot below are 1/8 notes recorded without quantize on a motu 128, live 805 on windows xp sp3.
asio buffer 128 samples.

Re: Inconsistent External MIDI Timing.

Got a motu interface too, had no problems with 8.04.
Can try this on 8.05, but to have any meaningfull comparison:
are you using a midi track or an external instrument?
what is your asio buffer size?

even an onboard sound card never matches an external one, the mac onboard sound cards in the laptops outperform nearly any PC card available, in terms of latency and sound plus features, like digital I/O An internal mac soundcard better than ANY pc card?
