Hmm, wow. The only time I've had problems is when I forget and place my laptop on something other than a fan base or up on a stand, and it's overheating. Is yours staying sufficiently cool? And, yes - def try it with the mouse and with latest version etc. Keep us posted, it really can work!

Definitely learn about the inner workings of a healthy operating system, and by all means stay away from the internet! Disable/uninstall all Apple spyware, iTunes etc, and don't allow a bunch of bullshit to start when your computer boots, and you might be amazed at what your machine can do.
