Strange MIDI behaviour

I got the Numark Total Control a few days ago and some of the controls exhibit very strange behaviour. 1. The 8 black knobs on the far left and right (endless encoders) do 0->127 in about 4 clockwise turns (really slow) but do 127->0 in about 0.25 anti-clockwise turns (way too fast). 2. Moving NTC c...

Update: I've now managed to get this working in some sets. ie hi, mid, and low, eq controls are mapped to 3 macros in a rack. the rack is controlled by BCR via Instant Map (either locked to BCR or not) The 3 macro knobs are therefore controlled by the last 3 of the top row of BCR's encoders. The pus...

There is no 'it' to pay for.
The Mac version is still in beta.

it will definitely work and has been discussed on Bome's forum by Florian himself.
So it's more the other problems I'm curious about.
Thanks

Backdating my computer

Will reversing the date on my computer (by two days) cause any problems with Ableton? ...or with anything? This is so that I can continue using the beta version of MIDI Translator for a gig this weekend. The beta would otherwise expire tonight so I'd really like to be sure before then. Thanks. Edit:...

Good point!
I'll contact ESI directly to ask.
I asked on the forum but it's still top thread over there since a few hours ago.

Thanks for coming back to this!
Very kind!

I think both of the UGM96 outputs on the back are stereo. I don't think they're mono, if logic prevails. Yeah I think you are right. Seems logical. Yes, stereo is important. It maintains the integrity of the songs. I agree with this but i also know that stereo is lost in some places. Last bar I pla...

Thanks for the suggestions. My main question now is whether or not stereo is really that important for DJing. I'm new to DJing myself ad I've heard one 1 'yes' and 1 'no' so far. I'll start a new thread for that question. If the concensus is 'no' theres savings to be made. Otherwise one of the cards...

On further inspection - both of the headphones outs on the smaller card must each be mono as the specs only list 2 output channels. I would think that you would want either RCA output or 1/4" output jacks to the PA (or external mixer), and a headphone jack for monitoring. It looks like one card...

Will this work for DJing?

A friend is starting out DJing witih Live. Will this soundcard or this soundcard , work for DJing & cue-ing? Can't see why not but price seems too good to be true, so am I missing something? Unless each of those outs are stereo I guess he'll send a mono feed to PA/FOH, and have a mono feed for c...

Nah. even the Vestax VCM-100 is 150euro more expensive that NTC. Probably for good reason as it has audio io but I don't need audio io and so I'd rather not have it on there. Also I can't really tell form the pics just how many of those knobs I'd be able to assign freely within Live, but it seems li...

The XSP was not that responsive either, so in a way I don't mind if NTC is the same coz I'm probly used to it already. Unless it's unusably sluggish - which it doesn't sound like from your descrption - correct me if I'm wrong tho. I'm surprised how cheap the UC33e is selling for! But I would definit...

I love the size of Faderfox but I can't justify it for DJing as it costs more but gives me less knobs than either XSP or NTC. Thanks tho. Would still love to hear from someone using Numark Total Control with Live. I can't see anything wrong with it but it makes me suspicious if I can't find anyone e...

Thanks Patch.
I would need a good few knobs tho, so DM2 won't do it 4me.
So I guess that just leaves me with NTC.

So anyone using Numark TOtal Control with Live?
