The poll lacks the "never" option ;)
Yeah, they should be better at communicating. Every company communicates these days. This Internet thing was *made* for it.

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
Plenty of folks have done so with very limited technology, the maschine is no godsend, neither is the push. They are a bunch of buttons. They can become an instrument if used well. End of story. Exactly. If you're not shaping your own stone/wood/glass/metal tools to make music you're already a less...

Re: New Computer for Live 9 - Win 7 or 8 ??
Win 7 performs better on short buffer settings compared to OSX following this: http://dawbench.com/win7-v-osx-5.htm The previous major release of Windows performs better than two major releases of OS X back ;) I'd like to see Win8 vs. Mountain Lion, since that would be more applicable to current sy...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine
Both Push and Maschine MkII Retail 599 dollar currently, yet in Norway I have to pay 160 dollars more for Maschine. Yeah, that's the final Push I need to decide :) Push is made to work really well with Live, while Maschine works really well with its own hardware. They both do a lot of the same thin...

Re: Ableton 9 - How many cores / Ram does it support?
Well, it depends: http://www.passmark.com/forum/showthread.php?3348-64bit-vs-32bit-benchmarks-amp-integer-maths-amp-PT8 64-bit CPUs might have more registers and instructions to make use of, but sometimes a program needs to be specifically optimised for it to make any positive difference. You could ...

Re: Live 9 - SSD and HDD install
It's easy, actually. Simulate heavy usage. This sort of hardcore testing: http://www.reportingbrick.com/SSD+Reliability+Test . The problems everybody remembers from the first generation of SSDs are pretty rare now. So at least they're safer :) But until I get SSDs I can afford in the terabyte range ...

Re: EIC 2
Installing everything from 8 before getting started on the packs for 9 would sort of work, right? It may be a shotgun approach, but it should get installed with 9. Or is this horribly stupid?

Re: Max for Live wants to install spyware?
I think Live also is using it, so you might already have the API required for it to do its thing. Check the licenses inside Live's preferences, or simply launch Max and see what sort of mode it's in.

Re: Live 9 - SSD and HDD install
EWQL is something like 650GB - on the installation media :)
SSDs are pretty safe now. The way they break when they finally do break also happens very slowly, while hard drives tend to snowball down (since it's often a mechanical error).

Re: Ableton 9 / Push Etc etc
Yeah, hardware dedicated to the Ableton way looks nice. I'm really trying to simplify here, and Push would do it. It replaces a Launchpad, MPD and ZeRO SL Mk2, and adds various things beyond what those do. Price-wise it makes sense, and that's at least two fewer USB ports used.

Re: Ableton 9 / Push Etc etc
I would have loved to be able to get a bundle from a local store with Push+Suite 9 upgrade or somehow save a little on Push, but then I compared the price of Push with Maschine. At least here it's about £590 for Maschine, which seems to do less (or at least is much less integrated with Live). I expe...

Re: Max for Live wants to install spyware?
PACE is the authorisation system. DRM, as the greyfaces call it these days. Copy-protection as we used to say. Just bend over and take it if you want to use expensive software these days ;) This is the same core system behind iLok. It's installed as a device driver partially to shield it from usersp...
