I'll second the recommendation for the music stand. It works great for me, it's a lot cheaper than so-called "laptop stands" ($100+) and I can also use it as ( gasp :o ) a music stand! Just make sure it's a half-way decent stand, not a $10 folding one. I have one similar to THIS -- T. G. --

Check out Jaltoh Sound Bus at...

It's free, so there's no reason not to try it.

Tommy, what vst's did you have in mind, 'cause I haven't found anything close to usable/usefull I didn't say I had tried anything good , just that there are approximations . Kuniox Pitch Scraper and DestroyFX Transverb are the two that come to mind first, probably nothing you haven't already tried....

As I look at eBay, I see the prices are creeping up a bit from when I bought mine a few weeks ago. I guess the word about DM2ToMIDI is getting around. They are still quite a bit cheaper than the $80 list price, however. Just be careful on eBay. If you look closely, you will see that auctions close t...

They're a little pricey, buy have you considered one of THESE Or if you don't need another keyboard, one of THESE There are numerous manufacturers of these items, so look around for the best price. These things are 24" deep, however, so they would not fit in most standard musical instrument rac...

I find it interesting that people have such differing opinions on bidule. I love it because it is exactly what I always wanted - a virtual studio environment where I can set up software modules as if they were pieces of hardware - each with very limited, specific functions. Maybe it was my years of ...

Hey, as long as we're harping for mp3 support, I'd like to throw in a vote for Ogg Vorbis support. Better quality and smaller files than mp3, and because it's open source, you don't need to pay any fees to Fraunhauffer for commercial use. By "you," I mean ableton. They would have to pay Fr...

sorry. but it's not possible to use VST plugs in Live when it runs as ReWire slave. This is so also in the current Live 2.0.3 version. I've been curious as to why this is. Is it likely to change in the future, or is there some fundamental incompatibility between the VST and ReWire specifications? -...

Only works with Live as the slave at the moment, but they are going to include the ability for bidule to be the slave in the future.

All this talk of master and slave always sounds so... S&M, B&D...

I have dual boot partitions on my laptop, and I have Live installed on both. Obviously, I'm only using one copy at a time, at least until they invent quantum laptops. My point: I unlocked one copy online on that partition which has internet access, and one offline on that partition which does...

This may be the result of a problem I also had when I bought the boxed upgrade online. With the purchase of a boxed upgrade I was supposed to receive a serial number which would also activate a downloaded copy so I could start using it right away. I didn't receive a serial # when I placed the order....

My interest in having Live ported to Linux because Linux is open source would, at most, be secondary. What I would really want is a version of Live that could be run from a Linux-style (or old MS DOS, for that matter) command prompt. GUI OSes, like Windows and OS X, have to do a lot of other non-app...

There was a thread on this a while back, and I read some of it and was a bit surprised/dismayed at the majority reaction of "why the hell would we want that?" Well I, for one, think that having Live run from a command prompt, without all that other Windows or MacOS stuff running in the bac...
