Hi, downloading your liveset right now. Just out of curiosity, is this is the same Realm that was on the EMU XL-7 Yahoo Group?

I think this is just a limitation of Live. Since there are so many different ways of coding VST's, Ableton was not able to take into account each one using their existing codebase. As a result, Live only takes into account automation from it's own controls when recording. You will most likely have t...

I am just the opposite. I swear by having net access while composing music. I will sit and get ideas for a track I currently have open in Live while browsing various sites. I run Spybot and AVG Antivirus and never have problems with virii and adware. Just keep your software up to date and you should...

tip for quickly fixing "badly cut loops"

Full credit for this one goes to mic-minimal, who was good enough to post about it in reply to a question brought up in the general forum. The question was, when you had a badly cut loop in Live, is there a quicker way to fix it than having to drag multiple warp markers around? Here is mic-minimal's...

nice tip!

edit: I am going to repost this in the tips and tricks section, giving credit to mic-minimal of course. This simple yet oft-overlooked tip could really do some good there.

thanks!

Changing locations is essential for me. I love being in my studio, but sometimes I pack up the laptop and go to the coffee shop or a restaurant (all the restaurants around here have free wireless access because it's an engineering college town). It's nice being able to download samples, manipulate t...

I use Live for similar purposes as mthomashow. I deal with manipulating field recordings quite a bit in my music, and Live is the ideal creative tool for this. The built in fx are great workhorses for mangling sounds. I also like to write more mainstream type music with discernible rythms and melodi...

I will put in another vote for the Drehbank. As another user said, best $450 I ever spent on gear. The thing is a fucking tank, and there are 64 (x2 banks) knobs right there at your fingertips.

I use some loops that I have created myself, but the majority of my stuff is ever-evolving ambient and abstract stuff. Live is great at this, as the arranger view is a very simple, no bullshit way to arrange sounds. I will often write whole tracks just live just by triggering oneshots from the sessi...

hehe, it's understandable, I certainly have been known to flip out for no reason as well. I was referring mostly to the post you were replying to; yours was nowhere near that level of pointless rage. :)

rock on, two kaoss pads sounds wicked. If it keeps being as much of a mainstay in my setup as it has been till now, I will get one or two more. I would like to have like 3 of them, where they are the only gear I am using, and make really minimal loop compositions, utilizing their sampling capabiliti...

I would like to add my vote for the kp2. I use it for a load of different things live. I really like connecting it as a midi controller for the grain delay, and then process live input through it's effects, and into the grain delay. This way, The grain delay and the kp2 fx change with my finger move...
