Re: 64 bit Native Support - Ableton Unable To?
I'm using Cubase74bit for any large multitrack session work, especially for anything above 44.1k. Hopefully Ableton addresses this soon, I'd prefer to be able to use Live all the time, for any type of daw project. Interesting point. I need 64-bit to load up a large composing template -- I hadn't ev...

Re: is bitwig an ableton product
If it weren't for the Linux thing, I'd lean toward a viral Live 9 marketing campaign.

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...
As any coder will tell you, the code goes much faster -- and the quality is much higher -- the second time you write something from scratch :) I could totally see three serious have-no-life coders writing this from the ground up in three years if they'd already written a similar app in the past. At ...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...
I honestly don't care if it's a hoax or real. I just want Ableton-style workflow in 64-bit. Personally, I don't think it's a hoax because of the Linux support -- that's the kind of thing that needs to start at a really low level for an app like this. I guess 9 could be a complete re-write (which mig...

I use a carpet-bomb strategy, and have lighters all over the house. I can see three from my desk right now. I can't imagine how many I'd need if I smoked cigarettes too...

Re: Why is ableton working on yet another beta that is 32bit?
I want 64-bit because I got tired of clicking "load anyway" when trying load my composition template. And that's only with a half-dozen big VSTs loaded. That's why I'm using Cubase now. I much prefer Live's workflow, but I have 16 gigs on my music machine for a reason.

Re: 64 bit Native Support - Ableton Unable To?
After more than a year of hoping, I gave up and bought Cubase 6. When I have to click on the 'loading this may destabilize your system" dialog six times loading an Ableton project, it's no longer tolerable. :( I'm sitting here staring at my Launchpad and MPD32 considering dumping them on Craigs...

Re: Steinberg Launches Modular MIDI Controllers
I don't like the looks of the faders, but I could see the QC and transport controls being useful. I wish Ableton would get off their ass for 64-bit so I wasn't having to learn freaking Cubase

Re: Live no longer stable . 'out of memory' issue outstanding
I'm also trying to do Ableton projects with a ton of orchestration -- it takes 10 minutes to load one project because I have to keep clicking 'yes, load, I know it might destabilize my system.' When we started bitching about 64-bit support a couple of years ago, Ableton's apathy was quaint. Now it's...

They've dropped slightly, you can now find them for less than $2/gig. I think we're another 18-24 months away from it getting down to $1/gig or so.

Re: I hate days like this... layoffs
I've been through it on both sides of the desk. Frankly, I found it easier to get laid off than I did to lay others off -- which is why I got out of management and went back to slinging code.
It sucks all around.
