Re: Naming USB devices.
Right! Arggh, doesn't the name that pops up come internally from the device itself? I highly doubt there's any way to change it unfortunately.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6
I have one, I had intended to use it as my only audio interface but I ran into a few issues concerning the digital inputs. 1.) Direct (latency free) monitoring is not supported with the digital inputs. You are only able to directly monitor the analog inputs via the knobs on the hardware. There is no...

Re: Midi Controller Latency?
Do some reading about how the Roland guitar synth series convert the sound coming from the pickup to the internal sounds. It can't really be thought of the same thing as the pitch to midi conversion coming out the midi port. The latency is always going to be better within the Roland because the clos...

Re: Sends only output is 3db lower than master
Yeah we all learned something new then. It's good to know when mixing, that just activating the crossfader changes your levels.

Re: Sends only output is 3db lower than master
Aha! I figured it out. :!: If you have crossfade assigned for any of your sends it lowers the signal by 3db. Must have something to do with panning laws? I have A/B crossfade assigned for 2 of my sends so those are 3db lower than the other two which are not assigned. I didn't think to check down the...

Re: Hard or soft.. which are you ?
Ermm, this is the Ableton forum. Pretty much nobody (here at least) is going to be using all hardware.
Someone who uses all software is going to be a rarity as well, but you might find a person here & there who doesn't even have one piece of hardware other than midi controllers.

Re: Sends only output is 3db lower than master
I'm running 8.2.8 and funny you mentioned holding shift down because that's how I just started building the template I'm using. Have you tried testing this? Because as I refresh my memory & think back I seem to remember it always being like this in Live 5 as well. I must have forgotten about it ...

Re: Sends only output is 3db lower than master
Nope, it's definitely a stereo signal path the whole way from the track, through the return track to the master (because that's just the way Live is, even a mono signal is 2 identical L/R, correct?). All faders at unity gain & pan controls centered. Try it out when you get a chance. You can try ...

Sends only output is 3db lower than master
I just noticed something when setting a track's output to sends only. The level with the send turned up the whole way is 3db less than when master is selected or output to another track with the sends down the whole way. I guess there's nothing wrong with this but just wondering why it's not consist...

Re: Upgrade to Ableton 8 or wait?
One thing you're assuming is that the upgrade from Live 7 to Live 9 will be the same as the price for Live 8 to Live 9. That may or may not be the case, not sure what it is currently. When I upgraded from Live 5 to Live 7, it cost me a few bucks more to skip a version than it would have for someone ...

Re: Copy/paste midi map from one Live set to another?
Yep, I'm working up a new template right now. I think I'm going to have about 100 mappings once I'm done.
That's good for new projects, but I'm trying to get my new midi mappings assigned to the old projects. Looks like I might end up assigning them one by one in each project...

Copy/paste midi map from one Live set to another?
Any way to do it? This would save me a huge amount of time.
Even some sort of workaround that I haven't thought of would be nice.

Re: Slowing down your samples WITHOUT it sounding rubbish?
Try using beats mode, set preserve to 1/16. Then in the box below that, set transient loop mode to off (single arrow pointing right) or forward (2 arrows pointing right). Then mess around with the transient envelope trying values less than 100%. This usually works well for me when slowing things dow...

Re: switching to wav
I've been buying .wav when possible for years (or buy a CD when I go to a show), I convert it to Apple Lossless. It's worth it for me, I can hear a difference from 128 aac. I can only hear a small difference from 256 aac to .wav, but maybe that could be placebo. Maybe I wouldn't be able to point out...
