Does the grain delay always introduce such a long signal delay? And if it does, doesn't it make the wet/dry knob kind of useless?

To answer my own question:

Maybe i should place a utility plugin after all efx in the channel and use that gain for my initial volume tweaks, then, at the end, i have some 'fresh' mixer faders for the final mix

How do you do it people? I have a rough first arrangement in which i made some volume automation in various channels, using the mixer fader. Now when i sit down to do a final mix, and i want to adjust channel volumes, how do i fine tune full channel volumes without overriding the little tweaks i did...
