Does plugin latency on return tracks affect recording latency?

Hello,
Does using plugins like reverb on return tracks, which has latency, affect the latency recording of midi or audio tracks? Also, what are the recommended settings/state of "delay compensation" and "reduce latency when monitoring" when recording? Should they both be enabled?

Thanks for the links. While they contain helpful info, they don't mention how latency in return/aux tracks affects overall latency: are they treated like other non-monitored tracks or they added to the monitored track even with "Reduced Latency when Monitoring" checked. Mx/master latency bus is added to the monitored tracks latency regardless of whether reduced latency is checked. Perhaps, it best to disable Sends on the monitored track are disabled, return/aux track on the monitored/recording tracks.

Pretty sure any plugin in the signal path of a track will induce latency on that track.

Easy to test. Take an External Audio Effect. Set its delay comp to 200ms. Disable the device. Place on your return track. You will quickly notice what is or is not happening.

Note: disabled devices still induce latency.
