Starting of sequencer and 'auto starting' generators

Post by Bachus » Sun Sep 25, 2022 7:39 pm

Good day!

As starting Ableton user I'm trying a simple set with some droning sounds and chords.
I'm using the probability sequencer and the harmonic drone generator.

If I hit the play button, all tracks start playing immediately and it looks like these devices cannot be linked to a clip so that the starting could be controlled for each device individually. There is no midi note required to trigger.

Is there a way to start each track / device individually in such a case?

Thanks, kind regards, Bart.

You could use clips to automate the volume, or turn the device on/off maybe?

I usually set up a dedicated scene only for fade-ins on each track and another for fade-outs (clips don't need to have note content, just set up a volume automation line).

Good day!

I'll try the volume / fade controls.
Btw., I don't know how to start / stop the devices. There's no UI element to do this. Maybe there is a standard control to do this?

Thanks! Cheers, Bart.

If you click the yellow button in the top left of the device it’ll turn it off, you should be able to automate that.
