Simpler Sound Quality

Post by Tregellasaurus » Mon Nov 09, 2015 2:50 pm

I know this topic has probably been brought us before, but I just did a blind test between a snare drum sample dragged into the arrangement view vs. the same sample in Simpler. I set the Simpler to 1 shot with no warping or any ADSR settings or anything. And I adjusted the volume to match. There is clearly a difference in the sound quality. The snare drum lost presence and sounded hollow.

As an additional test, I loaded a Utility and flipped the phase on the Simpler track, that should cancel the sound out when played together with the audio track and it didn't. When I did the same thing (flipping the phase) on 2 separate audio track playing the same sample at the same time it cancelled it out.

So clearly Simpler is mangling the sound somehow.

And not just Simpler. The same happens with Impulse and Sampler.

And insight into this?

Did you play the root note?

Ok, I've just tried and you're wrong [edited, my mistake. Thanks for pointing this out Shelluser].
Do you by any chance have the "create fades automatically" turned ON in your preferences?

Hey there.

It was the "create fades on clip edges" setting. I changed that and now they cancel out.

Thanks
