Just want to say a big thanks to everyone who kept the faith over the past decades and put in a lot of hard work to make this possible. Some people have had to put up with a lot of shit !

I had forgotten what it feels like to feel optimistic about about politics / world events ...

McCain's conceding speech was great. His supporters scare me though, so much anger, and he did have a hand in that.
I second all that.
I predict the next 4 years is going to thrust the seriously ignorant and scary into the spotlight because the McCain campaign and fear of a black president broke the chain off their cellar door. It will be a period of painfully fake political correctness.
Hey Mike, Mike sez not to worry. The ignorant and racist will just continue to be ignorant and racist. (Mike's the BLACK of Pitch Black  )

Words cannot describe how amazing this night is. In the beginning, I was wondering if McCain would prove to carry the presidential crown simply because I didn't believe America was 'ready' to elect a bi-racial candidate.

I went out early this morning, threw my vote in for Obama and turned on CNN for the rest of the day to watch the events unfold (turned on Fox News at a later time, too).

McCain's speech was nothing short of admirable. I have more respect for him than I did earlier today, and Obama's was a spectacular masterpiece.

Over the past several elections I have never felt so moved and optimistic about the future for not only America, but for the whole world.

Kind of makes me just want to give everyone a big gay ol' hug.

So Happy.

The streets here in Brooklyn are out of control, fireworks are going off, everybody is drinking, singing, smoking weed, playing music, helicopters circling above, all the people who were driving their cars before being blocked by the crowds have simply got out and joined us in celebration. Saw plenty of people taking their clothes off, got some decent footage on my video camera, the cops have blocked off all the roads so we can run amok through the streets and are cheering along with us. Absolutely unbelievable. What a fantastic day.

Today I took my son inside the voting booth and we both lit up the button for a straight democratic ticket....

Today I wanted to show him he could be ANYTHING he wants to be if he puts his mind to it....

Tonight I just....

Feel like I can do anything...EVERYTHING...

It's a feeling you get...like the feeling you get when you see the birth of your son.

My President isn't just black...he's an inspiration.

I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow and the day after that.

Congrats on your new president! I would've voted Obama.

sorry for being a downer, i just dont see how he is going to "change" anything. Just as much as Mcains was a saggy sack of putrid goo, Obama is a balloon of concentrated helium. i will judge his time as president after the fact not before it. I hope he "changes" things but i see no proof that he will in anything he has said. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the huge international incident a few weeks after his inauguration .
