how do you know if you are genx/y and wtf is a generation

occording to various web sources you are gen x if you remember the berlin wall coming down, vividly remember nirvana getting huge, drink starbucks, and bought cd's
so i can check yes to all of them..

you are gen y if you use cell phones, remember nirvana, drink starbucks, computers have always been around, and download music..
i can check yes to all of them also except with computers i vividly remember there being no internet.

and as for age.. alot of web sites claim gen x birth years being from 1960-1982
and alot of sites say y is 1977 -94

i was born 5 days before 1980...

things i remember about growing up,
my buddy,

atari
ninendo
super nintendo
commodore 64
sega genesis
poison
warrant
mc hammer
vanilla ice
nirvana
smashing pumpkins
home alone 1 and 2
showbiz pizza turning into chucky cheese

as for cell phones and mp3 players
i was around the age of 19 -20 when they became big (1999-2000)
and that was around the same time i first downloaded a song..

what generation would this make me part of?
x seems to old and y seems to young.
