is there a way to enter EXACT data in automation?

i need to automate sample start in simpler, by 16th beat throughout a 2-Bar sample.. so have to set exact values.. and by just moving the automation bar with the hand/mouse i can't fine-tune it good enough!
there got to be a way to do it more precisely... or am i aiming too high here?

you can expand the height of the track by dragging its lower border down -> this way the space to move automation points up and down gets larger and more precise. also, holding the apple-key (ctrl on windows-machines i suppose) while dragging lets you dial in values more accurately.
