1) paying 4x as much as I would for a landline,

2) exposing myself to the risk of brain cancer,

3) reachable at all hours of the day and expected to respond,

4) locked into a cycle of having to buy yet another product every year or two because of the built in obsolescence of consumer electronics. All for the "convenience" of being able to make a call anywhere, anytime (see #3). WTF.
1) paying for the convenience of knowing if your car breaks down you can call for help. if someone is bleeding in the street you can call for help. if you have a heartattack you can call for help. if you're driving home and you're gonna be late you can call your wife to let her know without pulling over to a gas station and asking to use their phone and them saying "no"

2) didn't they disprove that? seriously I could swear that turned out to be a myth brought on by irrational fear. could be wrong though.

3) I agree with that one, but I've learned the fine art of the ignore button. my old voice mail used to say "if I don't answer my phone I'm either busy, sleeping, or ignoring you. if I'm busy, sleeping, or ignoring you it's obviously not okay to call me back in 30 seconds"

4) I've used cell phones for 3 or 4 years before, I tend to not have to upgrade them until they actually start breaking on me.

5) quit yer bitc*in ;) if you don't want a cell then don't buy one. the only reason to make a list of reasons why you don't want something is cause you're trying to convince yourself you aren't missing out. or maybe you actually do have one.. then you're just making a list of things that bug you about having one... thats not very good for your moral :)

(about the cancer thing, I did a little google search and came up with this http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=fac ... ain-cancer seems to say there is some evidence to support that they can cause cancer but not enough to make it conclusive and even if they do it's an extremely minimal risk. thats what I got from the article anyway..)

This is the worse thing about modern life. If I don't answer my phone or don't have it with me, my wife tells me I'm irresponsible and that its unacceptable, because she could be under a bus. So for the rest of my life there is no prospect of any real solitude, even just for an hour. Great.

 :D Yes, you're right I'm being a whiny little bitch about it. My wife begged me to get rid of our cell phones in favor of a landline and I refused. I've been feeling especially annoyed by them lately though. As for the cancer issue, there is no way anyone can know for sure until enough people have been holding cell phones against their head their whole life.

Beatmaker works with all iPhone's and ITouch's, just make sure the OS is updated, though iTunes should have ben bugging you about this already too.

Beat it by minimising the use of a cell phone. Use it only when you have to. Spend the rest of the time talking to people who can be bothered to be in the same place as you.

Dunno about you, but my landline is a cordless phone also - okay, so it's maybe not as strong a signal, but it's still pretty close to my head too :-)

Degrassi Junior High is actually a Canadian show.

As are Degrassi High and Degrassi:The Next Generation.

We don't produce much worth watching here in Canada, but Degrassi is not something I can allow to be classified as 'American' :) Also worth watching are Corner Gas and Flashpoint. In the past Higher Ground (starring Hayden Christiansen of Star Wars and Life As A House fame), Sue Thomas F.B.Eye and Trailer Park Boys were all notable Canuck shows as was DaVinci's Inquest/DaVinci's City Hall.

Mostly everything else we import from the big US networks.

I don't use my cell phone much (I try to use it as little as possible). If I ever do use it I try to always use my corded headset. If I don't use it I always get a weird headache.

so explain to your wife that you need some quiet time now and then. my wife feels me on that, although I've probably only ignored her call once or twice and most likely cause I was hungover at the time :)

tried downloading it twice last night and it wouldn't work. I'll try again today. it sounds awesome.

it says "requires firmware 2.2 or higher." my phone is apparently 2.1 how do I go about updating that?

edit : nevermind, I found an update tutorial to 2.2 should have it working tonight
