Anything cool going on in London from Dec 28 to Jan 5?

Post by dave999z » Wed Dec 24, 2008 10:21 pm

Greetings all.

Happy holidays!

My girlfriend and I will be in London from December 28th thru January 5th. Anyone know of any good bands playing, or good electronic acts, or anything else cool to do?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Dave

don't now something in particular.

but THE END is closing after 13 years end of january, if you by all means are able to make it. GO...!!! and experience the only place on the planet that can call itself a decent club with all bells and whistles and the best sound you will ever experience in your lifetime. [and the DJ booth... the DJ booth OMFG someone for once was using his brain designing it and it reflects what a DJ is all about: rocking the ship till' the end!!!]

in my eyes you would be stupid to miss going there...

and i am jelous cause i am not able to go there ever again... :( :( :(

yepp, when i heard it i was in shock, nearly cried, seriously...

it's mainly a personel decision, layo and mr.c say. must be. it's running well since day one, no wonder.

i believe anyone who ever visited or played there will never ever forget that experience. THE SOUND, crowd and dj booth alone next to so many other details, the spiritual side / attitude of the owners, layo and richard... AKA's bar, the list is endless...

another legendary club will end. SAD.

p.s. and to me the best electronic music club in history so far.

RIP

this is not just PR nonsense... every single night i was at the end (which have been probably a hundred times) it was fun and party with a sexy crowd like that. damn, this is what i miss here in berlin, here people are a massive bore at the bar... starring at each other in stupid coolness. fuck.

I rarely went anywhere else - I would go out to some clubs some nights and be disappointed - that never happened there

I guess fair enough though if they've been going at it that long and don't feel they could hand it over to someone else

I wonder what will take its place?

+100.000.000

only the velvet rooms (until it's closing, because of contract issues with london transport, they owned the premises) on wednesdays, carl coxe's ultimate base was good otherwise...

i also never, ever have been in the slightest disapointed at the end / aka no matter if it was, techno, house or DnB... always sexy dancing action until near death.
and again THE SOUND. it was really the only ever place, i had the feeling HEAVEN it's what i call a club hifi sound, and not just a loud bass pumping PA in a hall.

ok, it turns into a thread hijack... to the OP, go as long as you can!!! GOOOO!!!!!!

oh, i totally forgot about cafe 1001 under the truman brewery bridge in bricklane, used to be a very cool spot and the only place in town where you could smoke relaxed a joint in public. and listen to some cool music. (it's a dj bar)

also '93 feet east' just across is a nice club. they used to do sunday day rooftop parties with grilling / brunch.
