You know who you are....

Have to say I cant believe the number of negative comments on the forum about the update. I know loads of people are positive and others have a feature that they would have loved but come on for fuck sake.

Its not the last update they will ever make and every year the new features it takes it closer to the ultimate instrument, DAW and enjoyable program to make music in. The drum racks last year people moaned about and now it is recognised my nearly everyone as the simplest and most user friendly incorporation of the 16 pad MPC style system on a computer. That's only one example.

The update this time is fantastic and genius and just maybe Ableton know better than you moaners who complain about that one feature missing stopping you from writing the best album in the history of the world.

All I want is that the program is not released until it is rock solid. But I suppose some of you moaning geniuses will exhaust all of the new improvements and features within 24 hours of it being launched.

The online colab (who seen that coming) = Genius
The Max integration (Dream come through) = Nearly unlimited potential for performance and sound creation.
The Looper (Although there are some on this forum anyway). Loopy in the fucking spoiled rich boy heads!

If logic, Reason, sonar etc had half the innovation over the past years we would all be using the ultimate DAW by now. For me Ableton is getting there quicker than anyone.

Look at how it handles external instruments. Look at how it handles samples. Look at the time stretch with all the common formats. And at least they are evolving their current plug ins like Operator. Great value.

They stole the show at NAMM look at you tube and see what the most amount of videos are about. Props where not even there. Access put a new case on the TI and called it TI2. They did not even move on from USB1.1 for fuck sake.

Ableton are the most innovative company in the software industry and again ITS NOT THE LAST UPDATE THEY WILL EVER MAKE.

I am not saying don't make feature requests but please work on making positive suggestions.

Might be related to the fact that most people interested in ableton are artists and musicians. There is a high percentage of dissatisfied moaners within that crowd. Most of them have not so much joy in life, and some believe that recording session view automation might resolve their situation.

I would like to say I am disappointed that all of the features in Live 8 did not appear in Live 1. I consider every single thing I can think of as a bug fix. Especially the things I had not thought of.

I feel that all the features which were added in Live 2, Live3, Live4,Live5, Live6,Live7 and Live8 were all probably bug fixes and should been a free upgrade called Live 1.1 , or something like that.
Why oh why oh why couldn't they have given nine years of programming in one year ? Answer me that ??!!1!!!

EG: adding A looper ?!?!
hardware loopers have existed for years and that's why Abletons one should be free, like the hardware ones are. In fact that is why the whole program should be free, because my nurse is coming now with my meds.

I believe the correct collective noun for moaners is a prolapse. A prolapse of moaners.

I can understand complaints about existing bugs in Live 7, but for Live 8, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Very simple: vote with your wallet.

Live 8 is INSANITY.... i deff going to upgrade....
however i did moan about not seeing the free instruments for existing live 7 owners... after I SEEN it .. i posted my sincere thanks...

i think angstrom is right. live8 should really be live 1.0000001547362. the ableton team should be living off air and paying their mortgages with the hopes and dreams of artists everywhere.

i have a woody for live 8. unless mfl is really expensive even for those who own max5 and live7 already.

When you buy a software programme like Live, there is nothing in the user agreement stating "we guarantee to implement new features at your request in the future."

In the case of Live, there is a demo available, the manual is available online, there is this forum... more than enough resources for you to find out about what the programme can do before buying it.

There is nothing wrong with requesting new features, and discussing them and being passionate, but when it gets to people ranting, swearing and insulting the Ableton team... well, it's hardly constructive.

The thing that makes me laugh when people moan about Live updates is that this is how most software is. There are updates, they are usually paid for, and they add new features and bug fixes.

Rightly or wrongly, this is how software works - certainly with developers of the big programmes, as far as I am aware. You take the software route with your eyes open.

You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Yeah it makes you sad to see how a bunch of really clever people do a fantastic job, and some have only criticism to offer, acting like they were being ripped off.

Ableton is just a product that you may buy, but no one forces you to do so. Once you bought it, you get what you paid for. Thats it. It may be sad that features you are especially keen on are not implemented, but thats just tough luck, and not an evil conspiracy, nor lazyness by the company.

I haven't seen that many people complaining, other than about the prices for upgrades. I think a lot of the problems with the pricing are due to Ableton making it so complicated by having so many different versions (Lite, LE, Standard, Standard Boxed, Suite, Suite Boxed plus loads of variations based on the individual instruments some people own), running various different promotions (discounts and give aways) and presenting the prices in such a confusing way.

The addition of Max for Live is going to make things even more complicated.

I don't see any real need for the download vs boxed versions, especially the different content. Just make them one and the same thing (with the same content) and offer a cheap option for getting a boxed copy.

that is how it is right now! i have zero intent of trying to download ~40 gigs of stuff, and i imagine many feel the same, in the case of the suite download vs. box as far as standard dl vs box, you can just dl, then get a box later, for $39... so YOU choose if the eic2 and session drums is worth the extra loot for the suite box. makes perfect sense to me.

oh yeah, the whining is hilarious! why oh why didn't they just make 1000's of premade projects, so i don't have to do anything at all, save loading the appropriate project, render to disk, and become a mega star! all for free, since i bought live once sheesh! the world should revolve around ME, dammit! the new features are SOOOO old hat, i'm switching to cubase, they already have all of the "new" features of live 8 (have since the first version, and more!!!), and their session view gui looks realistic, with metal faders and 3D clip slots...
damn. you can't write automation in session, etc. etc. etc., and hinders you from making quality tunes, sorry. don't bitch, just head over to the feature wishlist forum, and bump till your hearts content. don't upgrade, like someone said, vote with your wallet! or do what most do, accept life's (and live's) limitations, and make some lemonade!

There's always a certain amount of moaners. Even among Porsche clients. But Porsche does not have a public forum and -more important- their customers are adults.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of moaning in the shower.
