Could you please explain?
Would you consider the AAS plugins in Live as native plugins?
MFL will be an integrated part of live. Build into Live. Like the AAS plugins?

Is this wrong?

I wrote an email to ableton and this is what I recieved:

Hi XXX,

the engine is capable of it, as the control surfaces dumps in the preferences already show but besides that Live 8 will not support SysEx itself.

major major disappointment for me!

Why is it bad?
You can control Live with sysex in max for Live, right?

Other limitations like envelopes and lfos, is also no longer an issue, because of max for Live?

Or is the integration not as tight as I think?

as I understand it live will not record sysex. only some sysex strings send by controllers are integrated.

a simple midibox application using just the core module and maybe a couple buttons to select settings could translate sysex for you.

sysex synth --> midibox --> record to live as cc's
played back cc's in live --> midibox --> sysex strings to synth

well,
what I think this means...
MFL will not support sysex...
as it uses the audio/midi ports through live...
and live filters out that data...
it's a limitation if you'd want to build patches that send/receive midi sysex....
like outboard synth editors etc..

From support regarding MFL and sysex:
yes you can use OSC and Network ports to send sysex but no midi ports which go in or out of Live.
Sysex for Live is a known wish for Live but i doubt it that it will be implemented. At least there are not plans to do this.

Of course you can post it again to our forum and/or if you want i can also forward it again to our internal wishlist.

mmm..not good news

and its weird they didnt even think about adding this feature , i mean it would have open MFL to another whole new market of potential customers (people who want to control their outboard stuff integrated inside their daw...and maybe even expand their functionalities )
the virus ti concept would have been a joke compared to what MFL could have offered..if only the Live midi engine didnt have this limitations
such a shame!

hope it will be reconsidered for future upgrades
