Why don't all the people bitching about Obama kindly tell us how McCain would have handled this better, and besides, Obama has been in office two months - the mess we're in goes back WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY further than that, so if people want to bitch, why don't they dish it to the idiots who made this mess in the first place? Oh right, no one wants to cop to voting for GWB, a lying, murderous scumbag who attacks his opposition by outing their family members who work for the CIA, a man who allows Haliburton to monopolize military contracts and send tainted drinking water and food to the very soldiers he sent to the middle east to steal oil, the same presumptuous prick who hangs a giant "I DID IT" sign on a navy ship during a speech saying that the war has been won, the same man who ignored Darfur and offered them virtually no help because they don't have resources worth plundering, the same man who has sided with Israel against Palestine at every turn and totally ignored UN laws....

Come on. The reality is that Obama was voted in as president, but he's really more like the new owner of a building that was once a frat house where hazing, rape, murder, torture and theft were allowed to happen...how anyone can think he isn't the right man to handle this country now is beyond me. And yeah, he's part of the elite, but who is going to vote a vagrant into the white house? The white house will always be occupied by the elite, no matter what, so who is it going to be?

I mean, if we're going to blame someone for the mess we're in, GWB deserves it until his messes are cleaned up, period.

Anyone remember the vibe about Blair when he was first elected?

Cos this seems awefully familiar.

Barrack did do well on Jay Leno IMO though. Plus he's got a Pac Man eating the Apple on his McBook. I quite like that...
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

Are all the political threads this year gonna suck like this one?

Ok, It's a lot easier to destroy than build, right? Republicans have done more to socialize the banking system and grow the government than Obama ever can. So, if you voted or are pro bush/mccain, you have lost your rights to even have an opinion. STFU!

Not directed at the op :)

So since Obama is a Socialist and the most far left President we've ever elected, and since he won by a landslide and Democrats control both houses of Congress, and since he still enjoys overwhelming support and sky high approval ratings, I suppose that's a loud and clear endorsement of Socialism by the vast majority of the American people. Is it not?

If what Obama has proposed is Socialism, then he has a clear mandate for his Socialist goals. So what's the problem? Quit being a crybaby and accept the fact that the far right is an increasingly irrelevant minority in this country. Maybe we can finally rise to the socialist standards of living that countries like the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, etc. enjoy. Maybe we can at long last get our shit together and join the rest of the industrialized world.

nevar, I know preschoolers with higher IQ's than some of the bush-loving bozos in this thread, I just can't help but shit-talk GWB, even if it's in response to a troll - trash talking morons like Dubya and his supporters is sort of a hobby of mine, and Bush is a bottomless source of material for ridicule, he just makes it so easy...

The right and left are the same to me. They both want to push their agendas on the world, and I personally could not give a shit about what either wing wants. Fuck the conservatives, fuck the liberals, and now that I think about it, fuck everybody.

lol, synaesthesia, but agreed - the fact that they'll be suffering in the mess they made for a little while is comforting, that and how they'll be whining about it for at least 4 years...it brings a joyful tear to ones eye

synaesthesia - nice word, I never knew.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synaesthesia

one type of synaesthesia is...
grapheme ? color synesthesia or color-graphemic synesthesia, letters or numbers are perceived as inherently colored
I went to school with someone who was like that. she attributed it to the colored alphabet magnets on the fridge when she grew up. you could ask her the color of a word and she'd tell you, even if you asked the same question months apart. it was savant-like and she appreciated people not asking her colors, it was an involuntary response, annoying. smart chick, very quiet, good student, spent her free time learning Slayer solos.

my own personal experiences in such states didn't last for more than 4-6 hours.

Well, if you consider Honey Moon as defined by long outings to the golf course, then Barak didn't have a "honey moon." Do you recall the first half-year of Bush? For like the first month or two, the press clippings were ONLY of him on the golf course. That dude didn't go to work. When I first saw a picture of him on an early visit to Saudi, it was of him chipping on a sand dune.

If you define HoneyMoon as announcing to his two daughters that they should expect a sister, well, they're a devoted family and it's lovely to see just how energized and nourished they are by making a contribution. So I wouldn't rule out that definition of honeymoon for them.

As far as the press being critical of Barak, I never fully see them throwing dirt without some healthy dosage of respect. If Barak occasionally reminds us that he's just human then I suspect people and the press will like him. Just look at this appearance on Jay Leno this week? Your friends aren't perfect, right? They make plenty of mistakes, but they're friends so you don't sit around judging them, you just like them for who they are.

It also has to do with the principles of good service. It has to do with expectations. (You don't promise someone you'll be 5 minutes when you know it's going to be 30. ) We know his ideals and what he wants to accomplish. Hard and unpopular decisions come with the territory. He didn't promise things that he didn't commit to, nor promise things to make his platform more palatable. He didn't promise these things like "read my lips, no new taxes". He stated what our goals were and assured people it would be a commitment to get there. As far as I'm concerned, there's no hypocracy in defining and committing to one's ideals and ultimate model, and accessing the pragmatics and current reality. For things to be working properly, those two pieces of information SHOULD look different from each other.

I'm not saying this from my own Honeymoon after voting. Barak will make plenty of decisions I'll probably critique. And I should preface this by stating my skepticism starts well before the voting booth. So long as he presents his actions clearly, I think the press and the populous will be fair with him. And he is committed to dialog. Keep the communication running, and you keep yourself out of trouble. (Rather than saying "no, the budget is none of your business" or "we're not speaking to that country anymore because they upset us." Can you believe that the previous administration was the first one to EVER not publish their budget or announce that they've balanced it? It's one thing that I've no idea how to make a spread-sheet, but even if I was a company of 5 people, I'd probably suck-it-up and figure out how to keep my books.)
