lucky Beta testers for Live 8.. initial thoughts?
missed the initial round.. I am sure there are plenty of other users awaiting your initial impressions of the new features.. please do tell...
also please report any additional perks that weren't stated but implied by the Abes..
"And many more workflow improvements: Yes, that feature request you sent may well be in there somewhere"...

Nice!
-Grouping makes things really easier!
-the 128 Midiparameter thing is solved terrific!
In the Midieditor the notes have now the note displayed on the note itself, not only on the pianoroll you get a better visual feedback on which note you have selected.

The new warping mode is doing my head in for complete songs, great for loops and such, but I find it less flexible (so far) for complex songs. Especially with the upper half of the waveform not being used for zooming anymore.
We;ll see, early impressions, maybe it'll change after some more use.

The multiband dynamics are fun, you can do some radical destroying with it.
Crossfades are perfect, took me 5 seconds to work out how without manual.
New way of warping, you'll have to get used to it but it works great, you can also do quantize and all the automatically generated warp markers will go to the grid. It makes you much more aware of if you're placing a beat on, before or after a gridline. When you assign a macro it automatically assigns the name of the parameter. Macro's and tracks can be coloured... and so on..
It looks really really good!

That little simple feature with displaying notes with the key...is just a massive improvement!
Finally my left eyeball will get adjusted
Hoped Poster's clip better hierarchy would have been implemented though

Bummer, was actually bobbing around online filling job applications out for the last couple of hours (and even checked that page earlier today!). The changedetection site didn't send me a notification, so it's presumably not quick enough... Might have to think of another way!
How regularly do they issue a new round?
Also, for anyone has got in, I would be very interested to hear about any of the unspecified workflow improvement's. Particularly:
Coloured/Annotated waveforms
MIDI assignment for specific loop lengths (have a feeling this is gonna end up as a max patch)
Does the start marker adjust the play head position?
Multiple hot cues?
I'm presuming most of these haven't made it in, but it would be nice to know for sure.
Thanks,
J

Don't worry - it's usually better to get involved in the second or third round of beta testing anyway, as some of the most horrible bugs have been worked out by then.
Plus in from the start usually means 20 plus installs and reinstalls, does a number on your internet bandwidth and sometimes on your registry if you run windows.
I was in at the start last time and am happy to forego the very first round this time. I have no time this week or weekend anyway, which would suck, having the beta lying there and no time to work with it ...

It seems Ableton has a new authorize sys?
How does it work in version 8?
Maybe a stupid question, but still be able to authorize offline i hope?
I don't run Internet on the audio PC.

Nope.Maybe in Live 9eddu wrote:mr.adl, if you select multiple clips, can you see the notes of these inside a single MIDI "clip view"?

last time out, the second round started after 6 or 7 betas, each of which last 3-4 days typically.
