OT: Golden Throat

Post by Low Frequency Obstinator » Fri Jan 23, 2009 12:30 pm

Soz, no filth here...

Was considering what kind of device I'd make with Max/MSP and started to reminice over an old school effect by Electroharmonix called the Golden Throat.

First heard it on 'Frampton Comes Alive' and unfortunatly many years later by Bon Jovi.

Never owned one though feeling somewhat nostalgic today so may see if I can buy me one...

(think pete can keep the hair tho.)

That's a thing called a talkbox, joe Walsh also used to use one.

They're a metal box with a 100w horn speaker inside, the outlet is a plastic tube which you put in your mouth, down which all that sound travels. You then put your mouth in front of a vocal mic and mouth the vowels while playing the guitar.

If you over use them they can actually damage your teeth, allegedly.

If you can make one of those in Max, I think you'd be doing pretty well, and would deserve the title of "miracle worker"

Wicked, I'd only heard of Golden Throat - made by Electro-Harmonix, ..

a Talkbox would be easier to get for sure... I'm swung tho as it would be nice sat along side my Electronic Mistress...

They do, as well as they use vocoders and everything else...

Actually building a talkbox is fun, i can recommend this for cold winter evenings.
